About this mod

A simple mod to set the in-game height of all races to the same it was in Oblivion.

A simple mod I made in Xedit to set the height of all in-game races to the same values as Oblivion, the Elder Scrolls game that came before Skyrim and was originally released in 2006. Oblivion was the first Elder Scrolls game that I played, back before Skyrim existed, (Yes I'm old) and so it has always held a special place for me among my games.

Back in Oblivion, disparities in height between the races (and to a lesser extend genders) were more pronounced - Nords, Orcs, Argonians and Altmer were taller than they are in Skyrim. Male Bosmer were shorter. Female Argonians were slightly taller than male Argonians. Male Redguards were slightly taller than female Redguards.

I decided to bring these subtle differences back, both for nostalgia's sake, and because I liked seeing more disparity in height in-game.

The values for race heights in this mod are the exact same values as they were in Oblivion, as I examined the race heights in Oblivion's master file and wrote the values down, then simply replicated these values in this mod.

The one caveat is how elder races are handled: in Oblivion, elder races (old people) did not exist - a character's age appearance was changed via a normal map slider in character creation, which meant that there was no need for an additional race to represent old people - a redguard could be made to appear old by giving him/her a different normal map with wrinkles to make him/her appear old for example.

In Skyrim however, Elderly people are defined as a separate (albeit unplayable) race. This presents as dilemma for this mod, as elderly people as a race did not exist in Oblivion as stated above. I dealt with this issue by assuming that since this is Skyrim, the homeland of the Nords, most elderly people encountered would be Nords. As such, elderly people now have the same height as Nords from this oblivion as well.

Note that no other values were changed for the races besides height, so perks, starting bonuses, etc. remain however they are by default depending on which version you are using (races in the Imperious version have the same stats/abilities as they do in normal Imperious for example.)

There are 3 versions of this mod:

1 for those who don't use USSEP OR Imperious (vanilla game in other words)

1 for those who use ONLY USSEP, but not Imperious, and

1 for those who use Imperious. The version for Imperious carries over all changes from USSEP as well, so it will be the version you want if you use BOTH USSEP AND Imperious. The USSEP version is for those who use USSEP ONLY.

You only need 1 version. Do not use multiple versions at the same time.

Other racial overhaul mods besides Imperious/USSEP are not supported, nor are custom race mods, as making patches for every possible custom race mod or racial overhaul mod would be borderline impossible.

Simply download whichever version you need and install with your favorite mod manager. The files are ESPFE (ESP flagged ESLs) so they won't take up a spot in your load order. I'd recommend building a bashed/smashed patch at the end of your load order to make sure the edits are carried over properly, but its up to you if you do that or not.
