Can you just remove the satchels from the mod and have the default for all consumables be the charges?
Give an ini file for configuration of levels for charges.
Then use a FOMOD to allow selection of what type of consumables to apply this to.
Right now, as it is, in testing with just a few poisons and potions, my Miscellaneous Items of my inventory was so cluttered it was ridiculous.  This is the biggest reason I will hold off on using this mod... if you can resolve that, or figure out a way to have all the satchels combined into a single satchel which you then can configure thru a menu, I'd use this... but not yet.

So, i tried this mod since the premise is interesting, but it doesn't work for some reason. I think it's due to either me using Skyrim Souls RE, or Soulsy HUD, or both. Both because I can't drink the potion straight from the menu, and also can't consume it via Soulsy HUD shortcut.

I have the same problem. I was thinking "Smart Optimal Salves" is the conflicting mod. Not sure tho, since I use Souls RE, too.

This is an excellent way to accomplish this idea! Are there plans to cap the number of charges, based on something like player level or perhaps gating it behind gold, dragon souls or something else (perhaps configurable via MCM or something)?

I imagine I could hit up a few alchemy shops and instantly expand my charges by a huge amount, or enter a mod-added dungeon and find a few too many potions laying around.

I'm also foreseeing the satchel mechanic becoming hard to manage with the dozens or hundreds of potions and scrolls possible in my load order - perhaps we could have a single item which, when activated, would open a second inventory which contains the satchels for each potion (similar to AddItemMenu).

This way we have only one item in our main inventory but can still access the potion details through the current satchel method.

Anyway, good work! Looking forward to using this one :)

This mod has piqued my interest, but I'm curious how it will work with alchemy.

Would I need to create 1 potion of health for 1 charge, and then based on my alchemy level need to create another 3, 5, 8, etc. for additional charges?

I assume same would go for poisons...

What about scrolls if you're using a mod for scroll writing?  Same concept apply?

A neat idea, thanks for the mod. Kinda like it is in the Witcher 3/White Phial symbiosis. How does it play along with SimonRim in terms of balance/compatibility? What about alchemy/crafted potions?

So do I get it right? If you find - let´s say - a potion of minor healing, you have one charge of this potion that you can use once a day? Then I need to find / buy another three potions of minor healing to have two charges per day, right? And same for scrolls. What about other potions (like buffing ones) and poisons? Is it the same?

You actually only need two as you already got the first item, you get your first charge for free, then for example, the tier 1 potion every third item you get a charge. How many charges you need depends on the how strong the item is, here is a list:

be aware that you can only use consumables when you have charges.

      Scrolls

      • Novice: 3
      • Apprendice: 5
      • Adept: 8
      • Expert: 10
      • Master: 12
      Potions and poisons

      • Tier 1: 3
      • Tier 2: 5
      • Tier 3: 8
      • Tier 4: 10
      • Tier 5: 12
      • Tier 6: 18
finding potions do not just affect charges per day, once you get a potion, it is converted into charge points and if you have enough charges you instantly get the potion to use, then every day it is refilled
