ESL, standalone. A patch to remove SREX dependency for Dragonsreach Great Porch in Skyrim, that moves said Dragonsreach Great Porch in the Skyrim world space, ported properly.

The original Great Porch is REQUIRED for the assets (Great Porch's Requirements are NOT), as in this mod I only replace the .esp. This is not something I usually do, I always try to make patches through plugins dependent on the originals, but it was necessary due to the way the original .esp is built, with injected records and references in the NAVM to the master SREX plugin. I understand this is not ideal, but I will take care of updating the plugin every time it's needed, to keep up with the changes in the original that are relevant to this version.

DO NOT EVER BOTHER THE ORIGINAL MOD TEAM WITH ISSUES OR INCOMPATIBILITIES WITH THIS VERSION.

I tested the mod fairly extensively in the past week and I am reasonably sure everything works as intended. xEdit reports zero errors, and I've also manually cleaned up navmesh issues as instructed by QuickAutoClean, but if any issue or question regarding this version, please use the bug and comment section of this page, even DM me, and I will try to look into it as soon as possible. And obviously do not use this with the main SREX plugin, as that would totally defeat the purpose of this being a Standalone version.

Generating better LODs through your preferred method will greatly enhance the experience of flying or paragliding on the bridge from outside Whiterun. In the pictures you see the vanilla Whiterun LOD (Dragonsreach excluded) as I still haven't finalized my load order.

Changes from the original mod:

  • Uninjected the records put in the main SREX esp, and removed the dependency on the main SREX plugin;
  • Remade the navmeshes of the Porch, because many were referencing elements in the master plugin (xEdit returned "ERROR: Could not be resolved" with FormID of the master plugin);
  • Repositioned and resized some rocks in both worldspaces, to better blend the base of the tower with the sorroundings;
  • Brute forced all of Dragonsreach in the LOD, so that there's no sudden Dragonsreach growth (it doesn't make the LOD perfect and is not an alternative to the usual methods of generating new LODs, I did it to keep collisions in both worldspaces, which matters for the next point);
  • Made three out of four Dragonsreach doors interactable from both Worldspaces. Paraglide from High Hrothgar directly on the Jarl's front door or land on the Porch from within the Whiterun worldspace and be able to enter and exit the Castle as you would expect*. It obviously doesn't look as good as the Open Cities model, but it works as an alternative if you cannot use them;
  • Added a Map Marker to the Porch area (you discover it in the round part, but fast travel is equivalent to entering from the door or using the command "COC WhiterunExterior12");
  • Also made patches for Palaces and Castles Enhanced, and for JK's PCE Dragonsreach patch, since those are the mods that I use that touch Dragonsreach. They are fundamentally the same file with the same one fix, the only difference is in their masterlist so that they load correctly.

Patches for different Dragonsreach Overhauls may or may not be needed, depending on what they touch. For example, any change to the door opposite the war maps, that from inside Dragonsreach leads to the Porch, will revert the position of the door teleport marker, causing the player character to drop to the ground below the castle on loading.

*NOTE: When heading out, the door that from the Jarl's quarters leads to the balcony will always lead to the Worldspace you first entered Dragonsreach from. Ex: If you paraglide from High Hrothgar to the front door, enter Dragonsreach, and exit from the balcony in the Jarl's Quarters, you will be lead back to Skyrim, and you can paraglide away from the city. If you enter Dragonsreach from the Whiterun worldspace, it leads you back to the Whiterun worldspace, and you can paraglide around the city. I choose to do this rather than hiding double doors due to how high up it is and how unconnected it is. This way it can be useful and fun to use for both Worldspaces. The door to the Dragonsreach Dungeons is unchanged, and will only work and appear from within Whiterun.
