I was trying to use the "Mark" spell to save my current location in the first slot, but it wasn't working (all the other slots worked fine). Checked the mod page for updates, saw there were updates to the mod. Exited the game, updated the mod, restarted the game. Now whenever I cast Mark or Recall, I get an error message "You lack the ability to use this spell." I have tried unlearning and relearning the spells; uninstalling, saving, reinstalling the mod, and restarting the game - same problem. Anyone know how to fix this so I can use Mark and Recall again?
There is now a setting that requires perks in alteration to use the spell. You can disable perk requirements in the translocate mod configuration settings.
I was having trouble getting the ancient 'Simple Mark and Recall' mod to work with 'Spells and Healers for Wounds'. The spell tomes would get overwritten.
But this mod goes to the next level. Only problem is the menu doesn't work well in 32:9 aspect ratios, but I can live with that.
1) There is no title on the list of locations, so you don't know if you are going to Recall to that location or overwrite it by Marking the current location. When using hotkeys to swap spells, it's pretty easy to have the wrong one in your hand since they both look the same and then you end up overwriting the wrong location. Adding a title to the menus would help or have the first item in the list be the title and clicking on it will do nothing.
2) There is no option to cancel marking the current location. I like how you don't have to type the name of the location again and can keep the current one but there should be a warning prompt when marking a a location in an entry that already has one marked to ask you if you are sure you want to replace the location. Also instead of leaving the text label blank to keep the old name, why can't it be pre-populated with the old name that you can edit. would be much better that way.
Another thing that would be great is the option that you can turn on in MCM that will automatically mark your current location before recalling and add that as the last menu option when recalling saying something like "Return To Previous Location"
I would love it if someone added these 3 things to this mod, especially the first two.
Another minor suggestion that would be great is to make the recall spell have a green magic effect in your hand as it does now, and the mark spell be another colour like blue or orange to distinguish them.
I didn't see a problem at first, but now I do understand what you're saying. A title on the pop-up menu of marked locations is a simple fix, there should be some obvious difference between them. I actually think it would be better if mark was a list and recall was a set of horizontal buttons, that way muscle memory would not be able to make the wrong selection. But that is more work, and I cannot complain much when the problem is really my mistake.
From what you have described, it might be possible you somehow didn't extract/install the scripts to the correct location from within the mod archive file. If there is no script the spell can "run" when you cast it, you will get what you have observed: used up magicka and no result.
This happened to me and I had all the scripts in the right places. Turned out to be because UIExtensions wasn't installed. Once I installed the dependency, it was fixed.
For some reason, the mod isn't working for me. I have the MCM, but when I cast Mark and Recall, absolutely nothing happens. No menus, no teleportation, no nothing. Are there any particularities regarding load order with this mod or something?
Edit: I guess not. I loaded the mod at the very bottom of my load order and it still didn't work.
Edit 2: I think the problem lies in the latest version of the mod. I downgraded to version 1.0.0 which I've used in the past, and now it works. Fine by me, because all the MCM allows you to do is increase the number of marks you get per 25 levels of Alteration, and I'm fine with the default, especially when used in tandem with mods like IWT.
You may have run into the same problem I had. Whenever I tried to cast Mark, I got a message that I don't have the skill. This is caused by an incompatibility with Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim. The default settings for Translocate require the skill level AND perk requirements to be satisfied. Perk requirements can never be satisfied with Ordinator, because Ordinator replaces the Alteration skill tree, so you can't have AlterationNovice00 or other vanilla perks. The solution is simple - deactivate the perk requirement in Translocate's MCM menu.
I had the same problem. I am using Ordinator. I read HautdenLukas reply, and I also installed version 1.0 and it also worked for me. Posting this in bugs.
