Update 1.1 adds more locations for the chair, and I've added an outside-only SWAP.ini to the Optional Files section. Enjoy!
Update 22nd March '24
Hi everyone!
Thanks for checking out the mod! If you find chairs you'd like replaced that haven't yet been covered by the mod, please let me know, and I can patch them into the SWAP.ini. I'm planning to offer a couple of variant SWAP files so you can pick which works best for your game.
Here's my reasoning behind the placement in my original SWAP file. Feel free to comment with your thoughts, too.
Chairs outside Forts - these could easily be regular chairs, so I've not swapped them. Chairs around campsites - stumps make sense, but regular chairs don't (who takes a chair camping?), so this chair works well as a swap. If you find one I've missed, please let me know. Chairs outside Orc camps - this is a tough one. I think some of these chairs are okay, but if an Orcish chair has been placed in the Vanilla game, I'm loathe to change it. Chairs at hunter's camps - most of these are stumps or rocks (invisible markers). If you find a regular chair, please let me know, and I'll swap it out. Chairs outside redoubts and Forsworn camps - yep, these should be swapped. I'm adding Four Skull Lookout and Hagrock Redoubt to the SWAP file. Chairs in mills, shacks and some inns - I love these new chairs and I think that mill owners might have made them for their homes. In Rorikstead, I've got them in the inn as a I can imagine a set of them having been commissioned for the inn. Chairs outside Nordic Tombs - Okay, I'm a bit stumped about these. I guess regular chairs could have been brought to these locations by scavengers/explorers/bandits, but these carved chairs don't quite fit either. Maybe this mod needs an expansion for more chair types? Let me know what you think.
Removing a swap you don't think fits: Here's some example text from the SWAP file:
First the first paragraph, where it's not immediately clear where the chair might be, I've added the location below (Red Eagle Redoubt in this instance). If you want to remove these swaps (or indeed any swaps) just add a ; in front of the text. So...
...would remove all the swaps listed above. Removing the ; will reinstate the swap. It's the same for any swap in a Base Object Swapper SWAP.ini Hope this helps!
A huge thank you to lucidstorm1 for allowing their work to be used in mods like this one. Please give them some kudos!
Thanks so much for the awesome chair! I've been using your models in my game since you started releasing photogrammetry assets for LE. I'm stoked to see you back to Skyrim and producing more models!
thanks I can produce these assets without photogrammetry, or by leveraging parts from photogrammetry (sculpt or paint parts), its much more interesting now, I don't have to leave home to make an asset anymore, more often than not, it looks much better if the clay is manipulated by hand and not by God so to speak
That second picture, with them around the campfire is perfect! On the other hand, I think I prefer normal chairs inside buildings, even shacks.. Any chance of an only-outdoors version? I know it's super-picky of me, so it's no problem if you don't want to!
Yes, I can do that. One of the reasons I used the chair in places other than just campsites was that there weren't really that many that actually had chairs. Most of the sites I visited either had a plain tree stump (which I think works) or an invisible marker. I'm happy to offer an ALT SWAP file, too. @Xyberbat, did you want me to upload your SWAP file?
Update: @LeanWolf, I've added a short guide to the sticky post on how to remove swaps. I'll also add alternate SWAP.inis as the mod develops. Hope that helps!
I was asking how they knew which of the swapped chairs were outdoors and not inside a shack, etc, but thanks anyway. And thanks for the outdoor-only ini file!
I'm also interested in this moment - is it compatible with Wizkid's Camp Overhaul? In my game, this chair is still not used, only for the reason that it should not be everywhere, only in the places you listed.
Update: I've taken a look at Wizkid's esp in SSEEdit and it looks like it doesn't add many chairs, so can you let me know where you've found ones that haven't changed and I'll see about adding them to the SWAP file. Thanks!
I don't use Wizkid's Camp Overhaul, but I'll take a look at the mod's SWAP file and see if I need to make any changes to create a patch.
