      I'll be making an addon for the Crossbow Bolts later, otherwise if you run AE you will still run into balancing problems.

      I was also wondering if support for Rare Curios - Bolts Expanded would be needed/appropriate too?

      Sorry, haven't really been modding lately. Been busy playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor on my PS5. Not sure when I'll be coming back to modding since I've started playing Eiyuden Chronicles now.

      My aim is to make it work with Bolts Expanded, yes. It's actually quite a nice project for a beginner modder to dive into. Why not give it a go?

      No worries! Sure I could give it a go, is it objective or subjective in nature? Perhaps you could let me know what your general intention for the addon was going to be?

      It's objective. The most important thing is to make sure that only the Dawnguard vendor sells the bolts if you want to follow my philosophy - this is actually much easier than many other mods because they make sweeping edits to add the crossbows to tons of NPCs and other vendors. Basically, bolts and their associated materials should unlock when the crossbows of corresponding materials unlock for the Dawnguard vendor. To achieve this you can simply mirror what I did for my mod regarding the required player level. I think adding for example Dwarven Crossbow bolts in the same levelled lists as the Dwarven Crossbow should be enough.

      Right so I'm a little closer to understanding how this all works, like I understand how your sublists function with the level requirements for each crossbow type but as someone with limited xEdit experience there are many unknowns still.

      For example I don't understand how the "chancenone" records work and what "Gated" and "enhanced" records are and how they relate to "chancenone"? Should I be patching the quest record in creation club curios to be blank? Should "Rare Curios Bolts Expanded" be a hard requirement as it standardizes all the bolts?

      The more I look into it the more questions I have haha, perhaps I'm not quite up to it yet with my level of experience. You'd probably spend less time doing it yourself than trying to explain it to me. Or perhaps someone else can take a crack at it, in the meantime I'll keep at it to see if I can figure it out.

      By the way I'm not sure if this is intended but I found 2 steel crossbows in the "AllEnchantedElvenCrossbows" record.

      Because of the Smithing recipes. Uploaded a Misc file without dependency on Adamant.
