Introduction

This mod is not my original.

This was made by unico, a wonderful picture book writer, and some kind modders.
Thanks to the author, unico, for giving me the permission to translate this mod into English and publish it on Nexus, and to the great pioneers who contacted unico.

All I did was translate (maybe I converted it for SE a long time ago, but I don't remember) and tweak it. That's all.

About this Mod
Add 9 books + Add picture book shoppe.

  • Dragon Visual Dictionary, v1 - v3
Even Alduin is just a bedtime storie for grown-ups to keep the little ones in line.
This book is a lovely illustrated collection of various dragons in Skyrim.
An old Nord named Jorph, who is very fond of dragons, drew these books based on his own research.
The children of Skyrim will enjoy this book. They love dragons. They can see the dragons breathing fire right in front of them ......

  • Herbalist's Guide for Little Alchemist, v1 - v3
This plant is very poisonous and can be used to make extremely harmful portions. It's important to handle it with care and never collect it alone. Always go with an adult. (Fly Amanita)
Herbalist's Guide for Skyrim, for children. Skill books (alchemy). It may be meant as a picture book. (Note: picture book is called Ehon in Japanese. This is the esp name of this mod.)
There are three volumes: v1 is about mushrooms, v2 is about plants, and v3 is about clutters.

  • Trials of St. Allesia
Once upon a time, Akatosh made a covenant with Alessia.
This is a children's version of the book of the same name that we are all familiar with. It is in the style of a picture book and is easy to read.
The pictures make it easy to understand and the atmosphere of the pictures is great.
I like this one the best.

  • Little Red Riding Hood
Once upon a time, in a place in Cyrodiil, a cute little girl with a red riding hood and a kind mother with a long beard lived.
The well-known Little Red Riding Hood has come to Tamriel! This story has been a bit arranged, as in Tamriel.
Spoiler alert: Little Red Riding Hood is a little Khajiit. The kitten in the illustration is very cute.

  • Aetherius Faeries
When this fairy visits you from far Aetherius, you'll have magic to turn water into cold ice.
When teaching something to children, personifying it is a common way of teaching children everywhere, I suppose. This is probably true in Skyrim as well.
This book teaches the power of magic to children in an easy-to-understand way as fairies.
The book is wonderfully illustrated.

Bookshop

The cave will be called "Lavender Garden" in Riverwood. You can easily find it with the map marker and the sign outside the cave.
After entering the cave, you find a house beyond the most beautiful lavender garden.
The house is the "Fairytale Quartet," a bookstore that this mod will be added to. There is a merchant in the house, and she sells a variety of books, including the new nine books. If you don't see her, she is probably upstairs.

Tweaks

Converted esp for LE to SE.
Replaced the background music. I chose to respect the atmosphere of the original as much as possible and chose music that does not touch my ears when I read while listening to it.

Optional file for FormList Manipulator - FLM at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community (nexusmods.com)

Storefront:
Rugs and removing the little bit of hanging moss that was visible on the bedside.
Book display shelves added by this mod (shelves with the covers facing you)
Lavender Garden:

Added a few lanterns on the path to the exit as it is dark at night. Made the unusable wood splitting stand more practical. Mended a little gap in the back of the store.

FAQ
Q. Is this mod compatible with xx? Can you make a patch?
A. No.
This mod is open source, as per the original author unico's intention. You are free to make patches and publish them.

Q. I found an obvious typo.
A. Please, post it. I don't want to fault this great mod based on my stupid English skills.

Q. This phrase is not common in English. The grammar is wrong. Other translation complaints
A. First of all, this mod is intended to be a picture book, a children's book. I have translated these books with the goal of keeping the vocabulary as simple as possible and easy to understand, even for children. If you need help with that, please let me know. It may be faster for you to create a patch to fix the problem.

Q.  Without shoppe version?
A. I DO NOT want to make a version without the bookshoppe.
I understand the utility of improved compatibility, but if you've ever visited the Lavender Garden, you know how much love the author has put into that garden and that store. I don't want to take that away and just add books. I hope you understand.

Q. Is this lore-friendly? There are no fairies in Skyrim, so isn't there a concept of "fairy" tale?
A. I think that's not a problem.
During the translation process, I cross-referenced the original text of Skyrim and USSEP, and the official Japanese translation I am used to, and I came to the following conclusion.
Carlotta calls her daughter "little fairy," and in the book "There Be Dragons", there is an expression "faery tales". So, even though the expression "fairy" is not common, it is not surprising that it exists in that world.

Q. There is no "Riding Hood" in Skyrim, this mod is not Lore-friendly.
A. Should it be the Little Red Torturer Hood, just for looks? Nope. That would be a different story.

Q. Book title is not an exact translation of the Japanese text.
A. On purpose. While I love the original book name, which is full of emotion, but many people probably get stressed out by the fact the title is different from the one on the cover. So, I matched it to the cover.

Q. Did you really get the permission?
A. Will you ask? Will you ask to me? It was a long road: unico's contact server was out of service, and Twitter was closed. So, I contacted tktk, who was on the special thanks list. (I was extremely tensed; I've been a fan of his site and mods since I started playing Skyrim!). tktk said he would find someone to contact him/her, and the next day I was contacted via Higeyoshi, who created the binding for this mod's books. (I was still terribly tense, they are senior modders in Skyrim!!) All of this was done on X, a public account.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for reading to the end.
As you can see above, you are free to use any assets of this mod except the background music as modders' resources, including paid mods.
However, please don't try to sell this mod alone as it is somewhere else.

If you have any questions or comments, go to the post.
The author, unico, is no longer working on skyrim mods, I'll take it.

Then please, have fun!
