I'm not entirely happy with this update, it's not as big as I'd hoped for it to be after all this time, but it fixes some bugs so I thought I'd put it out there.
What's new in v. 1.4: -A bunch of new conversations, mostly for a Bosmer Player. -Revamped the initial conversation between Auri and Player to make it more immersive. -Tried to cozify Auri's pod. Failed. It is a little different but still equally ugly. -Player can now take Auri's stuff without pissing her off. -Player can now sleep in Auri's bed. -Added letter in Falkreath to give a roleplaying player a reason to find Auri's pod. -Auri will no longer misgender a male romance partner. -Revoiced some older lines. -Nerfed Auri. She no longer has a paralyzing perk and shouldn't steal your kills as readily. -Significantly lowered the chance for annoyingly repetitive lines to fire. Let me know if they still repeat too much. -Changed Auri's default outfit to low level armour so it's easier to replace. -She will no longer rattle off random Bosmer trivia to another Valenwood-born Bosmer.
Due to popular demand, I've reuploaded the Interesting NPC's banter patch. I've not personally touched the patch in years, and I'm uploading it as is. There may be unvoiced lines.
(Please note that Daenlyn not showing up is a vanilla 3DNPC bug, and not caused by Auri as previously thought. :') Enjoy.)
After a few weeks of work, I have finished the first version of the VIGILANT commentary patch! It adds ~140 lines of commentary, both location-based idles and conversations with the player. VIGILANT is a story best experienced alone, at least for the first time, but if you scare easily or get lonely, it is now possible to bring Auri along.
Because of the way VIGILANT is made, the patch has a few quirks. For instance, Auri will occasionally either follow you into places she's not meant to (like dreams) or not follow you into places she should. I recommend liberal use of the summon spell in the latter case. Another quirk you need to be aware of as of this first version of the patch, is that Auri will assume that you have made the good/correct choices throughout the story, even if you haven't. This is because I haven't yet figured out how to track Vigilant's Karma system, and because of the mod's sparse use of clear quest stages. Therefore, if you intend to do an evil/bad playthrough, leave Auri at home. I really recommend that you use the voiced translation by Aelarr.
Finally - because of how long VIGILANT is, I've only playtested the patch once. Let me know if something seems to not be working correctly.
I just read the article and found out that I got got locked out of the romance because I chose the option that I thought had the least snark and was safe. It's just like real life I guess.
I recently got Auri as an awesome companion again, with the help of ff7legend's patch.
Something odd: She is occasionally speaking up to say, "Ugh, I don't feel so good." It's not actually spoken aloud, but a subtitle that comes up. If I then interact with her, I don't see any dialogue options that seem related to her being ill or unhappy. When I talk with her, she's generally cheerful. But sometimes when I finish the conversation, she sighs as if she's irritated. I'm sure I haven't said anything unpleasant to her; I certainly don't want to!
I recall from my previous long game that she eventually seemed depressed, and that's when we got to go on our sightseeing tour to boost her spirits. But I think we'd spent more time together before that depression began. And then I think there was something pretty clear for me to do about it. The current behavior seems different?
Yes, this is a bug caused by me messing up the numbers of that dialogue. She's meant to say that line when her health is low. Unfortunately I'm unable to fix this bug right now because my creation kit doesn't work.
I reckon she's having moments of PTSD regarding past injuries and past dire situations. Now I know to just be supportive and comforting, and the moment will fade.
(Waribiki & all) - Auri finally opened up and revealed that there in no good food in a delve that only has draugr in it. Draugr are not good for her to eat - and I can understand that very well. So, I have taken to getting her to "wait" outside the delve while I go through it alone. Also, Auri may apologize for not feeling her best today. I wonder - how many bandits (one example) does she need a day? She often has "food, he, he" for a response when you ask what is on her mind. And, best of luck getting your CK working, Waribiki. [Thanks for this mod - I love it]
Absolutely love the mod. Auri's comments and asides are both whimsical and emotional, and her singing is absolutely beautiful. The only drawback I've run across is that, no matter how many times in numerous playthroughs I've tried to begin the romance track, it will not start. At no time following the Song of the Green quest line, whether I take her to any of the inns, or my home, does she sit and relax to start the romance track. As you might guess, this is very frustrating, as I've had no opportunity to compare her romance track with any of the other followers I've used. Even disabling EFF has had no effect, and I do not use any mods that change the interiors of any of the inns nor player homes. I feel I've reached a dead end in trying to find a console command which would enable me to force a hard start to the questline. Please help.
I've actually looked for that option, but it's never come up in the dialog options. As an aside and to follow up on my original post, I use Vortex and have several profiles with her in them. In none of the profiles had the option to ask her to sit down appeared. I will scour through the articles again to see if I've missed something.
Thank you very much. Took a few tries to find the sweet spot on the chairs, but once I did was able to proceed with the romance quest. Again, a glorious mod!
(Yaninya) It may also be helpful to add - "wait" - after she sits. It may take a few tries to get "wait" to show right after "sit", but keeping her in the seat is most helpful. Once you finish speaking with Auri, you will then need to use, "follow me" to get Auri to follow again.
Does anyone know why the wood chopping block in riverwood is made persistent and what is that (almost blank) stage added for the quest Discerning the Transmundane (editor ID: DA04)? Is it safe to lose those edits?
I don't remember what exactly I used the chopping block for but most likely it's a distance reference to dialogue. The Discerning the Transmundane edit allows Auri to help you with the collection of Wood Elf blood. If you delete those edits that dialogue will break.
(edit) Disregard. Redownloaded the mod and works like a charm.
Got a minor problem. Went through the companions quest first in my game, then I recruited Auri. Now each time I load my game she introduces herself to me and has all the conversation options about kodlak being cured again in the menu. Quest seems to progress as normal, though. Does anyone had a similar bug?
[BUG] Auri will not move. I'm doing the Song of The Green Quest line (where you have to take her around to different places) Moss Mother Caver, Eldergleam Sanctuary, Ancestor Glade... And she will not enter any of them. I have to keep using the summon Auri spell, She simply will not attack anyone either yes she has plenty of arrows.

It should be okay to update mid-game.

Good luck on your journey, Vigilant of Stendarr.

If she's not naturally sitting down for a chat, you can just ask her to. :)

The Innkeeper looks at the trio and asks,
"Which one of you is the soprano?"
