About this mod

This mod makes Pandorable's NPCs wear physics capable wigs as default.

What it is:
Does what it says on the tin. Gives Pandorable's NPCs wigs from popular physics hair mods, and makes them wear it as part of their default outfit. The wigs used are the same as the hair that Pandorable gave them, making them identical to PAN's vision, wherever possible. Those who's hair did not have a 1-to-1 physics capable version available has recieved one that is "close enough for government work".
The "Heretic" version changes ALL of PAN's NPCs except the ones who's hair is too short or too tightly bound for physics.
A "Puritan" verison is available, where only the ones with a 1-to-1 wig available have been changed. The NPCs that the "Puritan" version affects are Aia Arria, Elenwen, Elisif, Endarie, Gisli, Illdi, Vivienne, Constance, Anwen, Karita, Madena, Ganna, Gilfre, Fastred, Olfina, Danica, Alfhild, Tova, Arivanya, Faida, Avrusa, Birna, Faralda, Mirabelle, and Gwendolyn.
Both the "Heretic" and "Puritan" versions are available in "XingNoHair" alternatives, depending on whether or not you have installed the physics hair packs as "Wigs only" or as "Hair and Wigs".

What it is not:
This is not a standalone mod. The physics, the NPC's, the wigs and all of everything comes from elsewhere, and was made by far more talented people. It doesn't include any files beyond the .esp, that I cobbled together with SSEEdit, which alters the default outfits.
This is not an actual hair change. The NPC's still have the hair that Pandorable gave them underneath the wig. I don't have the skillset required to mod hair properly at the moment, and I fully welcome anyone to do so. One day, perhaps, I will educate myself.

Installation:
This mod has the following prerequisites:

  • Pandorable's NPCs (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19012)... (tested with v.1.4)
  • KS Hairdos - HDT SMP (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31300)... (tested with v.1.4.3)
  • HDT-SMP Racemenu Hair or Wigs (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/43120)... (tested with v.1.21 Hair and Wigs FOMOD option) *** If you use their "Wigs only" FOMOD option, or v.1.2 Wigs ONLY downloads, you have to use my "XingNoHair" Main File alternative ***
  • RaceMenu (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19080)... (tested with v.0.4.19.16)
  • All the requirements that those mods need.

After
you have installed the prerequisites, and confirmed that they are working as intended, installing this mod is as easy as it gets:

Automatic installation:Simply add it with your favorite mod loader, and you're done. *
Manual installation:     Unpack the zip, and put the .esp into you game's mod folder. *

* Important: You have to make sure that the .esp is loaded after the prerequisites, and after anything else that alters the default outfit records of the affected NPC's. If you have a mod that makes your NPC's wear something, chances are that they will either overwrite or be overwritten by this mod.

Note: A fresh game is recommended for the smoothest experience, but it should not be neccessary.
The mod relies on the game triggering the NPC's to equip their default loadout. That means that if you are installing this mod mid playthrough, they might not have recieved a new trigger between now and when you see them next. Results may be anything from not having the wigs equipped, to them not wearing anything at all. Fixing it is easy: Open the console, target the NPC and type "resetinventory".
If that fails, you might have to start a new game or experiment with NPC recycling/resurrection.

If you encounter any other bugs, please let me know. Also, if you have advice or ideas for how I could improve the mod, I'm highly receptive.

Compatibility:
This mod should in theory be compatible with everything that doesn't alter the NPC default outfit records of the NPCs that this mod affects.
I have tested with the newest currently available versions of the prerequisites (as of 22.02.2024), but I can make no guarantees for versions either before or after.

Incompatibility:
As stated above, the mod is incompatible with anything that changes the default outfit records of the affected NPC's.
Compatibility patches for oufit mods that don't use the item slots used by the wigs (slots 31 and 41)  is entirely possible and quite easy to do.

Credit:
All of it goes to the authors of the mods that made this one possible.
I did not create any of the parts that this mod takes advantage of.
The only thing I did was change the default outfit records and click save, which is tedious, but hardly an achievement.
Feel free to use this "mod" in any way shape or form that you want.
