About this mod

Do you love the excellent Ashlander Apparel by livtempleton, Jeir, and docteure? Do you hate the ridiculously blurry arm and leg wrap textures? Me too, so I fixed them.

Changelogs
Ashlander Apparel - SSE CBBE BodySlide (with Physics) is a staple of my load order, but I could never bring myself to wear the arm or leg wraps as they were much, much lower quality than the rest of the outfits. This wasn't anything to do with texture resolution, either: the base textures were just really muddy.

I'm not a texture artist, but eventually I got so fed up I decided I'd have a go at fixing it using free assets. So, I studied the technical details of how the models are wrapped to the meshes, whipped up a template based on the specifications, and then used freely available (and no-attribution-required) textures to create replacements. The result is a set of textures that actually looks very slightly higher resolution than the rest of the outfit, though only if you look at it very closely.

Installation

Just let this mod overwrite the base mod. Job done.

Q&A

Did you use the original textures in making this?

Other than studying them, no. I did reach out to the original author (not docteure) to ask for permission to work with their textures, but I didn't hear back, so I just rolled up my sleeves and reinvented the wheel. This included replicating the very strange alpha channel of the original textures (out of an abundance of caution). So no, this doesn't use the underlying mod's textures assets.

...Both of which were based on Skyrim textures anyway, and so it wouldn't matter if I had. I realised this two seconds ago while writing this blurb. Oh well.

The arm and leg wraps are bandages in the original, but coarse fabric here!
Good eyesight. Yes, and they also had obvious seams on the inner edge because they didn't tile, which was very visible when I first tried to replicate the original design. While the seams are still there to a very keen eye, this makes them much less noticeable. Also, I'm not a texture artist, and textures of tiling overlapping bandages aren't common free assets.

The dark arm and leg wraps aren't as dark as the chest wraps of the outfits.
Because the originals weren't either. They're designed to complement, not match, the colour of the sigils on the dark version of the dress.

The crotch and thighs are missing under most of the skirts.
That's the base mod. The person who did the CBBE-3BA conversion (docteure?) took them out to prevent clipping during animation.

This sucks, I could do it so much better.
Please do! Consider this me challenging you actual, skilled texture artists to make a 2k, high quality texture replacer for this outfit.

Don't you have anything better to do with your time?
Not while the Creation Kit is still basically unusable due to the patches no longer working. Thanks, Obethesda.
