Is Immersive Interactions required to play animations at shrines?  I got this mod so I wouldn't have to use that mod, so I don't have it installed and if it's required it defeats the purpose of this mod (especially since the OAR version works whether you have Immersive Interactions installed or not).

I'll switch over if I have to, but I really don't want to because my game is more responsive with DAR than with OAR.

Yes, as Immersive Interactions allows your character to use the animations. If you don't install only NPCs will use them.
But I highly recommend you to install Immersive Interactions tho, as it adds a lot of "life" to the game. Very nice mod.

Thank you for the response.  I guess there's no reason for me to use this mod, I'll just go back to the OAR version.

A quick suggestion: you really should list Immersive Interactions as an actual requirement rather than just a recommendation.  I know you attempted to explain it in the requirements section, but the explanation is confusing, to be honest.  Maybe change the wording to something like "required if you want the player character to use the animations."

Any way to remove the book animation?
