About this mod

I didn't like how complex other "death alternative/penalty" mods were, so I made my own. The system is simple: every time you die, some otherworldly figure kindly revives you in your most recent save, but nothing is truly free in life, so they take some (40% by default) of your Gold as penance.

How the Mod Works

When you die and a save is loaded (either automatically when the deathcam finishes, or you loading manually), a configurable percentage of your income (default is 40%) is taken from that loaded player's gold.

Future Plans

  • Add an MCM for easy configuring of tax percentage and other things
  • Make the death counter save-dependent, so different characters get their own death count (this was too complicated for me to do just yet)
  • Add punishment for not having any gold (technically done, see below)

Configuration

To configure the mod, load a save from the main menu, then in that save, load again. This should add a power, Configure: Simple Death Tax, to your Powers menu if it wasn't there already. Use this power to show a menu where you can enable/disable the mod and configure the tax percentage.

P.S.

I also had a feature where the player would receive a punishment for not having any gold. One of their skills would be 15% less effective (Conjuration spells last less time, you block less damage, etc.), but I couldn't figure out MCMs (even with MCM Helper). I knew this feature was not for everyone, so I decided to leave it out until I get a proper configuration system like an MCM finished. Coming soon...
