Great mod! Btw is there any arrow speed ini code? I would like to tweak the speed myself.

You need the Creation Kit, or Xedit, or Zedit. To tweak yourself the speed, it's in the "Projectile" section. There's no .ini used, it's part of the game.

Hi, thank you for the great mod. now i can actually play archer in skyrim VR
but last night i tried to hunt a bunny from quite a distance but for some reason my arrow can't reach it, it feels like it just disappear. i tried firing more than 20 times but when i tried to retrieve the arrow, none of them are on the ground. they just disappear

do you know how do i fix this? i remember adding [Actor] nevdistance something line in my skyrimSE.ini for this problem but i forgot what that is, is that also needed for SkyrimVR ?

      Hi,
I think it should be: fArrowMaxDistance (in the Creation Kit Game Settings) but I didn't touch it in the .ini file. The number after fArrowMaxDistance control the maximum distance of the projectile. Between 6000 and more.
There's can be some bugs sometimes, but as I only modified basic parameters, the main problems are vanilla bugs. I had the same bug one time, on PS3 - before using mods.

Can you shoot at the same spot, from the same distance - without target - and see if you find the arrows?
      Best regards

    Hello,
I installed version 2.4. loot tells me there are 4 records to clean. what should I do? do I have to clean with SSEEdit or is it expected to leave as it is?
    thanks for any reply

      Hi,
It should be the shooting range, you could clean it. By the way, the version 2.5 is close to a real bow sensation, version 2.4 give a more nervous impression. If you use T's Skyrim True Skyrim by mnikjom, the version 2.5 is integrated. In this case, don't forget to place Archery 2.4 after T'Skyrim to keep your arrows a little faster.

      Cheers

      Hello,
thanks for the quick and clear answer.
I tried to install version 2.5, but loot warned me that:
"This plugin contains records that have Forms outside the valid range for an ESL plugin. Using this plugin will cause irreversible damage to your game saves.", So I tried version 2.4 to check if it had the same problem. I also tried to install "T's Skyrim True Skyrim by mnikjom" to test if the 2.5 version installed with this mod solves the problem. In this case, loot does not detect any problems. But it would be useful to know if it is possible to install only version 2.5 without having to install "T's Skyrim True Skyrim by mnikjom" so that loot does not detect problems.
      thanks again for your attention

      Sorry for the late answer,
You can use the non-esl version, I wasn't aware of those problems when I flagged the mod. I will redo the esl version, when I have time.

Sorry if this has been asked, but I'm unfamiliar with how NPC aiming works: Will this mod make enemies less accurate?

I really like the concept of more realistic archery implemented, but if it means I'll like... Never get hit... Because the AI doesn't know how to aim with the altered bow stats, I'd be pretty sad.

Also, I use Archery Gameplay Overhaul, do you know of any incompatibilities there?

      Hi,
NPC aiming is untouched, they are as accurate as without mod. You will get plenty of foes arrows in your Dragonborn.
Full compatible with Archery Gameplay Overhaul, don't forget to place my Archery mod AFTER all mods that can possibly mofify arrows.
If you don't want the War Bow and arrows included in the mod, you can use T's Skyrim True Skyrim by mnikjom, it use my Archery arrows stats.

      Cheers

Hi. I just ran into an issue where I'm not able to upgrade the War Bow beyond Exquisite. I have smithing level 85 and the materials required. The bow is not enchanted, and it will not allow me to upgrade. Is this normal behavior? I love the War Bow it's my favorite. Did you nerf the upgrades to encourage the use of other bows for folks with high smithing skill? Thanks for any info, cheers!

Note to all of you having trouble with upgrade.
The War Bow is in Wooden Weapon category and need a more higher smithing level to be fully upgraded. Don't forget, some mods limit the wooden upgrades.

So what's the load order exactly?
LOOT sorts Campfire Patch, Bruma Patch, ArcheryV2. So patches load BEFORE main file?

EDIT: Ok, firing up xEdit sorted it out, you change the projectiles Gravity and Speed so the patches have to be loaded before the main mod. Good to know for doing future own patches for me.

Is it still a thing? Because LOOT sorted patches after Archery.
BTW - can these patches be also flagged as ESL? It's a bad feeling, when I install main ESPFE, while installing 2 ESP patches

A little late, but EVER place Archery the LOWEST you can. Archery is a turbulent mod who don't like to obey to LOOT

The last you can, to be sure it overwrite every projectile modification. The patches can be after or before the main mod, or even used without the main mod.

    Cheers Vactrol!

Just tested the mod at its archery range. Love it! Gonna have to adjust to actual curved trajectories now lol.

I'm wondering... I play Skyrim VR and, while it's not a big pain to peek at my keyboard to type the console command for the range, any chance of putting a way to get to it in game? I didn't notice if there's an MCM entry for the mod. If there is, that would be best as then there'd be no need to add yet another Power to the growing list of them added by other mods.

If you do add a Power maybe make it an optional download for those that don't want it. Come to think of it, after some practice there, I'll not need it - so it would be handy to be able to uncheck the .esp for it.

    Cheers again!

    Endorsed, of course!

      Hi,
The Archery Range is not intended to be playable, but is rather a .... test range for my personal research. I let it when I packed the mod, in case I need to reload it from the Nexus. It's not a level to train, you are strongly encouraged to train in wood (Falkreath Forest is a good spot). With a little practice, you will no longer need the HUD visor. I very strongly encourage deviant gameplay like: NO HUD at all. Full immersion. Under certain circonstance, you should be able to hit targets hidden behind a cover (if the curve allow it).
I don't have VR, but if you can use Campfire mod, just craft plenty of stone arrows and train "a la Billebaude". No need to hit an animal, but aim at a tree, fallen tree, dirtcliff and so on, try to be fast, don't look at the arrow but focus on the target, shoot a bunch of arrows, then check placement. Place yourself on a rock, to shoot down, downhill to see how to aim uphill and learn to correct the elevation (big change from vanilla).
Using Archery Gameplay Overhaul is a must too - if you can in VR, because it modify the 1st person view and place the tip of the arrow correctly ( there's a huge placement difference in vanilla, between standing and stealth position). Fin it here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/24296

      Thank you for your interest

      Cheers

I don't know how DynDolod works, have you tried the .esp or .esl flag version? Does this make a difference? The 2.4 is .esp only.

    Talks about realism...
Draws the long bow in 0.001 second

A real bow can be draw and shot in a second. If you want realism, don't take perks allowing to shoot faster. By the way, search on youtube for larsandersen23 or Lars Andersen Archery. This guy doesn't draws in 0.001 second but.....seem to be better than Legolas of the Lord of the Ring lol

Lars is a trick shooter, a real medieval warbow can range from 120 punds in draw weight to over 200, such as the ones found on the Mary Rose. Not only do you need to train your entire life to fire such a weapon repeatedly in combat conditions (longbowmen were BIG, if you look at actual modern people who shoot the heavier warbows you'll notice they're all built like Stallone in his hayday) but even so drawing one is a slow process, and has a very particular technique to it.

In combat conditions, any more than 6 arrows PER MINUTE, with a several hundred pound bow will tire you out if you are constantly engaging targets, therefore the whole arrow every five seconds can only be achieved for a very limited time. Lars uses bows that are definetly under 100 pounds in draw weight, probably 40-50lbs and you wouldn't find anything like that being used for war in the medieval period.

Even later 17th century longbows used by the scots and Irish were around 60-80lbs, at a time when armour was starting to be quite rare. The medieval longbowmen faced opponents in full armour that their arrows couldn't even pierce unless they hit a weak point, hence the ridiculous draw weights used in order to compensate.

For reference, look up Simon Stanley shooting an 150lbs English warbow, he takes about 3 seconds to draw the bow.

Edit: After a bit of digging, I now know what bow Lars uses, a 35lbs Korean Selfbow, that would not be comparable to any longbow, regardless of draw weight.

You are totally right, and my view about archery "realism" in a video game is a cross between actual things and fiction. My actual playthrough is with a wood nymph, so: a lot of arrows each second (not realist), but arrows have some kind of realistic trajectory (more pleasant to play). No matter wich bow is used, the flight of an arrow is a curve.
The medieval bows weren't efficient in comparison of the composite bows of today, made with fiberglass and other modern component. I seen in a study, the hundred pound medieval bows were equivalent to around 60 pound bows of today. But speed of arrows is faster with modern bows. Most of the Skyrim bows are.... ....weird. Fantasy. So, shooting a lot each second (even more with time stretching) is a part of the game, but I just hate arrows flying with bullet ballistic.
A vast subject of research and discussion. Thank you.

      Cheers

Yeah I mean the gameplay mechanics are what they are, I remember playing oldrim with a mod that added longbows, gave them really good damage and made them very slow, but even that wasn't really realistic, the only game with fairly realistic archery I know of is Kingdom come, but I don't even see the point of replicating that in another game. Honestly I love going full legolas on people with a nice short rcomposite bow in game, it makes ranged combat a lot more fun, realistic archery only works if it's properly built into the game, when you're fighting half a castle of bandits you really appreciate the rate of arrows per minute.

I didn't change the weight, there's already a mod for that somewhere on the Nexus. I like the possibility to take thousands of arrows, or to only take 24 or 12.

By the way, I just weighted two arrows: A wooden with target tip - 26 grams, and an Easton XX75 Camo Hunter with Judo tip (for rabbit hunt) -33 grams. I don't hunt, the Judo tip is for quick shot on old tree stump. When we do a wood session, we take the following equipment: Backpack with axe, small shovel, rope, wine or beer, flour (me make a kind of bread on site), crude meat and cheese, bows and only 12 arrows for each. It's Campfire for real, with fire made with modern silex. Arrows aren't heavy, but backpack is. Quiver are heavy. I made a custom leather quiver, and it is HEAVY and can store only 10 arrows ( https://teardropworlds.wordpress.com/2018/03/22/dwarf-quiver-final/ and https://teardropworlds.wordpress.com/2017/07/10/leather-feather-string/ ).
To emulate the arrow number limit, changing the weight is a bad idea, it could be better to limit the number available in the inventory. I don't have the skills to do such mod.

      Cheers
