About this mod

Assigns a female voice to the Dawnstar or Falkreath Black Door while keeping the other male. (Voice Files not included. See instructions in Description). Now has the option to immersively change the passphrase of the "female" door to reference its new "gender."

I found this mod: The Black Door Revoiced, which had an option to give the Black Doors a female voice. I really liked it and, like a few others in the comments, wanted to keep the Falkreath door with a male voice but wanted the Dawnstar door to use the female voice. You could mix and match the greeting and "Welcome Home" files so each door would have a different voice, but they would both use the same "You are not worthy" voice line.

This ESL flagged plugin defines the FemaleUniqueDBBlackDoor voice type and assigns it to either, the Dawnstar Black Door or the Falkreath Black Door depending which version you get. It also removes the dependency on the MaleUniqueDBBlackDoor voice type from the "You are not worthy" dialogue line so both doors will properly use it. Due to permission issues, no voice files are included here.

2.0 Update: Now has the option to immersively change the passphrase(s) to "[Silence/Innocence], my sister." Just choose the Dark Sisterhood variants when downloading.

Installation Instructions:
To have a single door use the female voice:

  • Download Female The Black Door Revoiced from the Optional Files section of The Black Door Revoiced
  • Install using your mod manager of choice
  • [optional] Download The Black Door - A from The Black Door Revoiced
  • [required if doing step 3] Install that as a separate mod, or merged with the previous.
  • Download one of the main files from this mod
  • Install it
  • Make sure it is enabled
  • Enjoy
If you want both doors to use a female voice AND use the new passphrase:

  • Download The Black Door - B from The Black Door Revoiced
  • Install using your mod manager of choice
  • Download The Dark Sisterhood Forever from this mod
  • Install it

These edit Cicero's Journal, thus a patch was made to edit their versions to include the new passphrase when using The Dark Sisterhood - Dawnstar or The Dark Sisterhood Forever versions of my mod.


The voice lines included here were hand spliced from vanilla dialogue by me.

FAQ:

Why not make both doors female:
If you want both doors to be female, just download The Black Door - B from The Black Door Revoiced, this mod is only for assigning these female lines to one door OR the other. Update: there is now the option to change the passphrases for both doors if you wish to go this route.

I installed it, but the Black door is silent!
Re-read the instructions above. This mod requires the optional file (named: Female The Black Door Revoiced) from The Black Door Revoiced to work correctly.
Another possible reason is, you installed The Black Door - A and replaced instead of merging with Female The Black Door Revoiced thus removing the female voicelines. If you are installing them together: either make sure they are installed as separate mods; or make sure, when installing The Black Door - A, choose to MERGE with Female The Black Door Revoiced when prompted. Doing this will leave you with both `maleuniquedbblackdoor` and `femaleuniquedbblackdoor` in the `sound/voice/skyrim.esm` folder.

I installed it but both doors are using the same voice.
Re-read the instructions above again. You should only use ONE of my plugins, not both.  For the case of both being silent, see Q&A above this one in addition to you choosing only one of my plugins (This issue has been prevented in version 2.0 as all plugins now have the same name and will overwrite each other if installed together). If you are still experiencing this issue with version 2.0, you either downloaded The Black Door - B instead of The Black Door - A during Step 3 of the first set of instructions, which would replace the male voice with a female voice; or you downloaded The Dark Sisterhood Forever from here which does not change the voice of either door, just changes the passphrases for both doors.
