oh... in that case, i better stop my usual procrastination where i leave quests for tens of hours before doing it. Better go and finish up the quest. But restart-titis might bite and i might end up starting a new game due to installing new mods or removing mods mid game before that variable could overflow lol.
I thought this is an interesting mod! I think it would be more interesting if you added an event where randomly determined Skyrim merchants loses all of their gold.
Maybe add scam mails collecting money for the war efford (for both sides), the orphanage, a retirement home for wounded veterans (possibly for both sides), the different temples for feeding the poor souls displaced due to the war/forsworn attacks/dragons, and make them a low-tier money scam version, asking for 500-1000 gold? Could also make for short interactions or notes send by courier from the said temples who did NOT start this charity and either received the scam letters or were confronted by worshippers being swindled out of their money - either asking the Dragonborn directly for help or sending out a general "The temple of (insert deity here) did NOT send out these letters. All donations are only accepted by our priests. Oh, the depravity of those evil people.."
Well, in terms of roleplaying it would make for a good motivation for the player to get their money back. But I understand that making complicated dialogue scenes with NPCs is a lot of work (being a modder myself). I just wanted to know to decide whether or not I want to install this. I have thought about it a bit and I think that taking player's money just like that is not fair, but if "being gullible" is triggered then it would be ok. But I do not know yet, what should be a trigger.
Well, it's just an idea. I don't know the contents of the letters, since I haven't installed the mod (I was interested in this specific aspect which isn't there, so there was no reason to), but if I were to do a mod like that, I'd write the letters to somehow eventually lead to a series of meetings with somebody, letting you invest a bit of money, and then give you back a big return, with a hint at an even bigger opportunity, where the scammer would pretend to be very reluctant to let the player in, but eventually would budge, taking a far more substantial sum, and disappearing. (If the player doesn't bite, then a band of thugs would make sure the profit from the first deal is returned to the scammer, along with the investment)... If the player has a home, maybe they could take out a mortgage... Or another scam could be somehow persuading the player to take out a big loan for a fake property sale, like a small chateau, selling the place to them, only for the player to have an unexpected meeting with the actual owners, who would have him arrested. You know, stuff like that, you know, modelled after real life... Maybe a woman promising to marry, but she would always need a bit more money before it was possible... I'd love to do this myself, but I already have quite a bit on my own plate, as it is. So I don't expect you to do anything. Making mods is really hard work. I just had a glimmer of hope this was something bigger, when I stumbled over it, which is why I posted my original question. The most important thing is, do what you want to do and have fun. Nevermind me :)
My thoughts exactly. A major project. It's kind of you to even consider. I had no notion of whether or not this was a small mod until I asked. Every now and then, a gem pops up here, you know how it is :)
I have not decided how exactly to implement that. I can make a simple dialogue where you force the mastermind to pay you a share. Probably will add something like that if I cannot think of anything better.
With the amount of bandits there are in Skyrim. You would have figured that they would have added a few more swindler encounters besides Brynjolf and that Argonian in Solitude. Thanks for this.
