Here's a bunch of frequently asked questions (seriously, some of these gets asked every 2 posts) that should hopefully answer your questions before you decide to ask something that has already been answered (likely several times).

The original mod for legacy Skyrim can be found here.

    Q: CAN U PLX PUT ON BETESTHA.NET?!=!!11
A: Sure... it's already there at:
    Beards [XB1] at Bethesda.net

Q: Do I need to use the .esp?
A: No. I recommend you do however, there's no particular reason you shouldn't. If it's a maxed out load order you're concerned about:
    1) You're modding wrong, you should never have that many mods installed.
    2) If you absolutely must, you can use TES5Edit to merge minor mods together (such as this one, with, for example Brows and other similar mods).

Q: PLX MAEK THIS OR THIS ONE BEARD!11
A: You didn't bother read the description, did you? I'll make new beard styles eventually.

    Q: R U GONA RETEX KHAJIIT BEARDS??!
A: The sideburn/mane beards are included within Beards. The whiskers/mustaches are part of hair textures and will thus be found in my upcoming Hairs mod.

Q: WUT?!? COLORZ OF HAIR AND BEARDS NO MATCH?!?!?!?!11!11one
A: This is intended. That's how Bethesda made it, and I intend to keep it that way. In real life, we rarely have the same beard and hair color, especially if we have a brighter hair color. It's not uncommon to have a hint of red in your beard, if you're blonde, dark blonde, or even darker.

Q: 'Member Beards for legacy Skyrim?
    A:

FYI this doesn't work with High Poly Heads, even if you have the Beards for High Poly Head mod installed. You still have to install the fix "Beards by Hvergelmir for High Poly Heads" which is at:  https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/65920?tab=posts&BH=0

    Hope that helps someone :-)

    Hi!
Great mod! Been using it for a while now.

I do have a problem with most bear/brow/hair mods because it's really hard to get good gray/white hairs (since the textures are usually blonde).

For hairs, I've found a solution in Vanilla Hair - Salt and wind Grayscale.
For your mod, there isn't anything similar, afaik.
So I edited the textures to be in grayscale instead of blonde.
I'd like to know if I can share them as a mod here on Nexus.
Based on your perms, I think it's ok, since I'm gonna credit you and include your mod as a requirement.

But I thought I should ask first based on this: "As a rule of thumb, as long as you don't include all or most of the textures from one of my Aesthetic mods in your mod, you're good to go."
I did edit half of your textures (everything except the _n.dds ones). So that's a lot of textures, but people would still need to download the original file.

Also, I am gonna opt out of donations.
All my mods are small patches and I opted out of donations on all of them. If I get the lifetime premium from unique downloads I'm gonna be more than satisfied.

    Once again, thanks!

Hey sorry to be a pain is there any chance that a patch could be made for this it works with COtR - HQ Characters creation addon for RM - i would try but unsure how to do it my self or if any permissions would need to be required first. Many thanks for your awesome mod.

      Yes i second this.

CoTR brings Skyrim on another level of realism, it really needs a functionnal middle and long-beard mod. I cannot understand why there is no mod for this yet...

Not a mod I'm familiar with (must have been released after I stopped checking Skyrim mods). They could, if willing provide a patch for their mod.

Thanks for the mod!  I dropped normals down to 1k and they look fine to me using bc7.

do you recognize in all picture the beards color mismatch the hairs one?
in intended or a skyrim limitation or whats over?

Seems the excuse for them being mis-colored is "it happens in real life too". So yes it's "intended".

The "excuse" in that case, is the custom hair, using different textures than vanilla hair. Yeah, there's a slight difference between hair and beard color, simply because of the texture of the hair and beard. This happens with vanilla too.

If I ever return to Skyrim modding, which is possible, but not very likely anytime soon, I might work on hair textures. They may look closer in quality. That's all I can say for now.

With some hair styles and colors, bears will often be darker.
With some others, it will be lighter.
And with some others, they match perfectly.

This is true even with vanilla hair styles and colors.  Yeah, most of the time the beards will be darker, but you're not going to make everyone happy by simply lightening the beard textures (which anyone can do for themselves easily enough if they really want to).  There's a texture consistency issue even between vanilla hair styles, not to mention modded ones.

First, someone would need to make a mod named something like "Vanilla Hair Consistency Patch".  Then, true to Skyrim modding convention, someone else would make a mod page for "Assorted Modded Hair Consisttency Patches" to bring all modded hair textures up to the Vanilla Hair Consistency Patch" standards.  Somewhere along the way, people will make a "Universal Hair Conistency Patch Patch" and an "Alternative Universal Patch for Consistency Patch" and controversy ensues.

I'm tempted to feed that into an AI for it to finish the story. ;)

Forgot to download this in my latest playthru and suddenly thought "why does my toon's beard look so crappy?" Oh, right, because it's a vanilla Skyrim beard. Man oh man those 4K beards of yours look sssoooooooooo much better!! Kudos!

Hi, I've been testing in the series X and I think I found a bug. Or two.

There are two medium-lenght beards in left side of the slider, at the begining (sorry, I don't know how to be more precise at the moment) with knots etc that clip through the chins of the elves. I think all of them, but not sure about the orcs. Neither about other races but I'd say no. I'd check to be sure though. It's the same issue with at least to beards.

I don't know if it's fixable but since they don't have much or any use for these races at least I think the mod would look cleaner without them.

I can take some pictures next time I'm on it if it's necessary but I think it shouldn't be difficult to find. I'll recheck with other races too.

Anyway is a beautiful mod, but I guess you get that a lot. Congrats and many thanks for sharing it.

    Best.

I've rechecked. It's just one beard, the third one from the left of the slider and it causes serious clipping only in the dark and high elves. I've taken a picture but I don't know where I should submit it. I think this is specific enough though. I hope someone can have a look at it, I'd be glad if there's something I could help with.
