Do I still need patches for grindstones? For example, ElSopa - HD Grindstone Redone - Hearthfire patch SE https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/94957 ?
Hi there. I think you have ElSopa's full mod installed and it is now overwriting the vanilla textures. To avoid this you can delete ElSopa's full replacer and just get the optional file from their page "Elsopa Grindstone Textures for Variants 2K". It is the very last file in the Optional Files list on ElSopa's page. ElSopa created these specifically for my mod to avoid the texture conflict. The mesh is included in my mod so you do not need Elsopa's main file. Please remember to endorse ElSopa's mod
great job! you make bos really shine! since i cannot DM u for some reason, sry for writing it here: i got a great idea: better chests and medieval chests BOS randomizer. Is it possible?
Thank you, glad you like the mod. Chests... good idea, I like it! It's actually weird no one has done this already. Nexus's DM system is down at the moment, so I won't be able to get permission for either of the mods you mentioned, but I will be able to do something a little more limited until I can get permission to include everything. Thanks for the suggestion.
Hi Jormunrekkr. A BOS mod for strongboxes already exists. I can't seem to find it on Nexus right now though, I have it installed on my main list, will have to check my load order when I'm back home after the holiday to forward a link to the Nexus page.
I'm used to editing SPID files but not BOS files. If I want the vanilla model to show occasionally, is there a general chance value I can edit? I just wanna see Mathys 3D Smithing grinder on occasion. Would blend super well with your variants.
You can simply use main File 2) Elsopa Variant, and then have Mathy's mesh overwrite my mod. The SWAP.ini for my Elsopa Variant is setup to include the vanilla grindstone mesh, which in the case of my Elsopa Variant is Elsopa's mesh. If you give Mathy's mesh priority though, it wil overwrite the Elsopa mesh and be included in the SWAP instead.
Unfortunately, most anvils found in the game are actually part of the various Blacksmith Forge meshes. The forge meshes require many compatibility patches, I would know, I had to make 10 different versions of my mod Better Bellows to cover all the variations. It was an immense amount of work, and even though making a BOS version to swap anvils is a nice idea, I just don't have the time or energy to take on a project of that size right now.
Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll keep it in mind for whenever I might have more free time on my hands.
Hi there. Thanks for the suggestion. Making a patch for Improved Sparks is on my to-do list and I'll also be looking into adding the DLC grindstones if applicable.
My initial idea was to not replace the vanilla mesh with the swap ones so you can have ElSopa's Grindstone in the mix. Unfortunately Elsopa's version uses the exact same texture file names as vanilla, but the UV layouts are completely different. So with ElSopa's Grindstone installed as a replacer, either the swapped models or ElSopa's textures are messed up (depending on load order) when done this way. The only way to fix it would be to either - Option 1: assign custom textures to my meshes or Option 2: rename ElSopa's textures and edit their mesh to use the renamed textures. Problem with Option 1 is that I loose vanilla texture replacer compatibility and for Option 2 I would need permission from ElSopa to upload a modified version of their mesh and textures, this would mean their original mod would not be a requirement though, and I don't like that. If ElSopa chose to rahter make the change to their original mod (change the texture file names) then I can simply edit the SWAP.ini to not replace the vanilla mesh and ElSopa's awesome model will be part of the mix.
Tell me how to rename my textures and/or new path so I upload an optional file to my modpage Only reason Im not ok with including my meshes andtextures is that my mod would be obsolete, you can include an edited mesh Edit: Uploaded my renamed textures in the optional files of my modpage , you can include the edited mesh in your mod
I think the elsopa variant is the wrong file? Textures from elsopa don't match. The only one matching is this file 'blacksmithsharpeningwheelstatic.nif', the variant ones are still having the 'wrong' UV to match the textures.
Are you using the Optional File that ElSopa created specifically for this mod on their mod page? Also, you should not have ElSopa's main mod active when using this BOS version, only the optional file, else there will be conflicts. Load order should look something like this: Screenshot
If you install as per my instructions you actually will get ElSopa's grindstone dispersed throughout the game world along with the other meshes as shown in the screenshots. My main file "2) Grindstone Variants - ElSopa Variant" includes the ElSopa mesh but with different texture paths from the original/main version. Thus you only need the optional files from ElSopa as these are the appropriately named texture files to work with my edited version of the mesh. You will still get the same ElSopa model in game. We simply did it this way to ensure ElSopa's mod is not made obsolete by including both the mesh and textures on my mod page. ElSopa also receives the credit they deserve in this manner. Hope it makes sense, I know it seems a bit convoluted.

OK, found it

This is really great and much appreciated.
I dislike the idea of rendering another author's mod obsolete, even with their permission, so this is a vey nice solution for me.

So as this seems not supposed to be, I'll skip this one, great mod idea anyway =)

Would be great if someone did this with the bar set (counter) in taverns and shops (he says... hoping to plant the idea)
