I've taken to using this (especially the color variants) on Serana when playing with SDA, and I'm very pleased with it. It would be nice if someone could somehow integrate the Elmlock hood with SDA's dynamic hood toggle, as it is a major improvement over the vanilla hood (or simply replace it). All in all, lovely mod.
Hi, just wanted to say that I'm running a modpack (Tuxborn) that includes the Elmlock armor! When I saw it in Tuxborn's load order, I looked it up, found this page, and thought the armor set looked really cool. So I tried to make some of it, as well as the associated weapon, for my character as soon as I unlocked Ebony smithing.
However, I saw the issue reported by earlier comments, about the armor pieces being filed under Stalhrim rather than Ebony at the forge, and I saw comments answering that this is apparently intentional?
Mod creators, can you consider sharing your reasoning behind this? It seems odd to me, because:
1. The associated weapon is still filed under Ebony, not Stalhrim, so there's inconsistency between the armor pieces and the weapon 2. The armor is classed as Stalhrim, but you don't actually need to know how to work stalhrim to make it, you just need to know how to work ebony 3. If you're also running a mod that allows you to deconstruct armor pieces at a smelter (Tuxborn allows for this), then deconstructing an Elmlock armor piece gets you stalhrim, not ebony, even though you didn't actually use any stalhrim to make the piece in the first place
Despite these inconsistencies, I'm going to use the armor set and the weapon anyway. :) I really appreciate an armor set that looks good on a female character without over-emphasizing the breasts. And while I don't normally use two-handed weapons in my Skyrim, I'm also really liking the design and the swing speed of the greatsword.
But if you could share your reasoning behind the stalhrim thing, I'd appreciate it! I'm very curious.
Thanks for your work on some lovely armor and a lovely greatsword!
Light Ebony armor doesn't exist in vanilla and using Ebony material/keyword will cause some light armor perks to cease functioning on that set because it's reserved for heavy armor perks.
Using Stahrim Light keyword circumvent that, allowing some light armor perks to work properly AND allows Ebony smithing to benefit its tempering.
I see! Thank you for explaining, so basically it's a compromise measure to get some ebony functionality while also being light armor, got it.
Heh, now I'll be over here thinking up a headcanon for why you get stalhrim out of a piece if you take it apart. :D (LOL, surprise new perk unlocked! The Dragonborn can turn ebony into stalhrim!)
Sorry for the confusion! XD What mod do you use to allow deconstructing this armor? The only one I know in top of my head is Ars Metallica, but that mod uses crafting recipes entries, which was added manually in the esp. Do yo mu use a patcher or something?
I'm running the Tuxborn modpack, which was not assembled by me; it's a custom Wabbajack list. And a lot of it is actually new to me, so I'm not sure what off the top of my head is allowing for deconstruction of armor! I'm pretty sure it doesn't have Ars Metallica in it, just because that isn't included in its official load order list. But it's also got a big set of merged stuff that may or may not have patched things in it.
I've asked on the Tuxborn Discord how they're handling this. I'll let you know!
Unfortunately, the armor isn't showing up when crafting. I looked through all the categories and only the Elmlock blade shows up. This is such a beautiful armor set. Any one else having similar issues?
I love this armor! But so many NPCs have this and since it's pretty pricey it kinda made me rich way too fast. How do I turn off the distribution? Thanks.

PS: I play on console.
Ps2: The armor now appeared under the Stalhrim category after installing other armor.
