No, just use the standard xLodGen > TexGen > DynDOLOD route to put these textures in LOD.

Actually I have LOD's in the AIO, I just added them as an optional file here. πŸ˜Š

Well done, friend. Masterful. Simple, straight to the point, no nonsense, quality work: all of your texture uploads. Looking forward to the all-in-one solution.

And in general, there's something epic to be said for modders still producing quality content for a 12+ year old game that so many of us hold so dearly. Old folks (like me), new folks, all folks.

    Cheers

Thank you 😊 I appreciate the feedback and kind words.

I have all the textures created finally, the only thing that's holding me up time wise is uploading the files, and making the mod pages. I should have all the packs and the AIO out within a few days, tops! πŸ˜ I have 8 more packs to upload (2 standalone packs that are just some stuff from the clutter upload (statues and signs), then for full packs left I have Dungeons, Hearthfire, Dawnguard, Dragonborn, Weapons, Creation Club, and finally the AIO that covers every single texture, once I have those 8 squared away.

Lol, I downloaded your old clutter upscales yesterday and was gonna ask if you were considering making more upscales and today you upload this. Thank you so much

You say this is the best upscale partially because it uses the base of CSSET... but what about that same author's upscale project?

It says right on the top of their upscale project "These are works that were made before CSSET", so their upscale project is not based off of CSSET, and also that upscale uses older models for upscaling presumably (they don't say exactly what they used, but its safe to assume it was Lanczos or something like most of the others are, where as I used the BSRGANx2 model with PyTorch)

No, they won't slow down the game in any significant way, especially if playing on an SSD

I wouldn't agree with that. BSAs are objectively better for texture streaming and will perform better than loose files, it's just a matter of how big of an impact based on your hardware.

I read somewhere that for Fallout (and probably games after) it's a huge difference, but not for Skyrim.

Yeah MAYBE you'll have issues if you're running 2015ish hardware or something, but with any modern setup you won't experience any significant or noticable issues. I have loaded the full texture set that I haven't published yet, without issues. 😁

I forgot the dude's name who also does upscales (not Kartoffels) and there was the same problem of the textures becoming noticeably darker. Imo this brightness change strays from the vanilla aesthetic.

It does, its not intended and it doesn't show when I look at the textures in photoshop. I'm currently fixing this, I know what the problem is. 😁 Stay tuned for an update.

I checked out your other upscale, the one for clothes, and I couldn't find the same problem there. It's nice to have a modern upscale based on CSSET, thanks!

The issue also affected horn candles in the Clutter pack, but I resolved that specific issue with a hotfix already. Just waiting on my image sets to regenerate with proper seperate alpha channels and seperate alpha mipmaps, it takes forever. πŸ˜… Hopefully its a blanket fix across the board for the few textures giving issues.

Why does the original look better in the images?

I will agree on the preview slides it does look better, but that's because they're being shown at the same size. Since the resolution is doubled for the upscaled ones, the details were made more refined during the upscale, so they're harder to see in the preview images. It did also smooth out some of the extreme dirt noise as well, but that's because it would just look like static when upscaled and not stretched (and it already kind of does look really noisy in-game by default anyway). I honestly should have posted side by side shots of in-game but I was too lazy for that haha, I'm gonna update the pictures when I update the mod to 1.1 for some bugfixes here soon.

EDIT: new version is out, pictures updated as well.
