About this mod
This patch adds the missing parts of the gladiator's armor of the Paladins and fixes some recipes
(optionally adds a chest with trophy replicas for QoL )
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
There are some little issues that I wanted to fix.
SHORT VERSION
In the faction's HQ you can find a Paladin's Shield and Paladin's Armor (Paladins was the old name of the gladiator team). But there is no other pieces of the armor set.
Now you can find the other pieces of the Paladins' set (Shield, Gauntlet, Boots, Sword), these extra pieces use the Ancient Nord version because it's cool.
The mod also fixes some tempering recipes and modifies some tiny details.
The optional plugin (requires the main file) adds a cabinet under Syrollus' bed, with a copy of each trophy you can win in the mod (in case you don't want to mess with the delicate displays of the trophy room) and 3 full sets of Paladin's armor (in case you don't want to rummage in the guild room or want to dress your housecarls like proper nord gladiators... I won't judge)
You should be able to nab everything after joining the faction.
LONG VERSION
This patch adds
- The missing pieces of the armor: Paladin Gauntlets, Paladin Boots, Paladin Helmet and Paladin Sword.
- The new armor parts all use as base the Ancient Nord design, but they have either less weight or a bit more armor value (because they are not suppposed to be actual Ancient Nord armor pieces, but a gladiator armor with a cool design). All of them can be upgraded using iron ingots, and make use of the Blacksmith's Steel Perk.
- The Paladin Sword uses as base the Honed Ancient Nord Sword, but gives 1 extra damage. Can be upgraded with a steel ingot and makes use of the Blacksmith's Steel Perk. So both the sword and the new armor pieces are actually equipment forged on purpose to appear similar to the Ancient Nord ones (because they look cooler, for a gladiator team).
- The Paladin's Shield and Paladin's Armor now use the Blacksmith's Steel Perk too, for coherence with the rest of the armor.
Also:
- Edits 4 pieces of equipments in the faction's HQ, swapping them with the 4 aforementioned new equipments (so you can actually find a full Paladin Set in the room)
- Some tempering recipes for the trophies were using the wrong workbench, that's fixed. All the weapons have been thoroughly tested on the Thalmors of Northwatch Keep.
- The Steel Cavalry Hammer you can win at one point in the mod has been renamed in Breton Cavalry Hammer, to keep it coherent with the other equipment gained from High Rock and also to not confuse it with a huge variety of steel hammers that are available on Nexus.
BACKUP TROPHY CABINET PATCH
The Trophy Patch is a Quality of Life extra I did for myself and adds a cabinet under Syrollus' bed.
Inside there are 3 full sets of Paladins' armor and a copy of each trophy that will be displayed in the trophy room. This is because I couldn't find a reliable way to put the trophies back in place after picking them up (the displays aren't interactive) without the use of a third-party mod.
All those weapons and armors are available from the start (it may be immersion-breaking, but the alternative would have been to add them to the chest via quest after each win... and is better for everyone to not mess with the quests)
There are some other items, that that can be found during the questmod, but are not included because they do not appear in the Trophy Room.
Note that the guild room is set to respawn, but all the trophies in the trophy room are (should) be set as non-respawning.
The cabinet does NOT respawn.
F.A.Q.
- ESP-FE?
ESP-FE
- Safe to install mid-game?
Yes (I made it mid game and used during the current playthrough).
- Lore-friendly?
As much as Pit-Fighter is.
- Why?
I used to smith, enchant and re-name armor parts as Paladin's Helmet, Gauntlets etc. After several dozen times I got bored of renaming every part in "Paladin's something" and made a patch for it.
And I had headaches trying to put back in place the trophies after I was done using them. So I added a backup chest in order to not mess the trophy room.
- AE or SE?
This is built on SE 1.597. But if Pit-Fighters works for you, this will do too.
- Is this compatible with...
This is compatible with the retexture mods of XilaMonstrr, since they don't touch the esp. However translations and mods that edit the guild room will likely require a patch.
