this is an absolutely great retexture, i was using whiterun stonefloors pfuscher for over 4 years and finally switched to this and really love it. i prefer the ground textures 100% because it's "whiterun" i.e. the ground looks lighter and feels more immersive. My only gripe is that because the textures are lighter, those trims around the road that separate the road from grass and buildings (the same material as those steps leading up to drunken huntsman) are way too dark now because of the relative contrast. It's a bit jarring to look at for me and was hoping if perhaps it's possible to provide a retexture for those in an optional update so that it can match better. Those are just vanilla and haven't found any mods that retexture those features yet. My idea for the texture of the dark grey trims would be to make it either a lighter grey stone (not lighter than the floor though), or a medium light wood similar to the wood floor elements already present in the city because those already fit well (you'll see one on the left of breezehome). Would really appreciate if you could at least look into it! But no pressure and thank you again!
Thanks. Finding a good set of textures that match contrast everywhere is not easy. I had some good results with Skyland and Skyland - Green Tundra, but it's not perfect. I guess I will have to do some work around Whiterun, when I will have some time.
Looks fantastic, but I'm having an issue with it giving a "blackish glow", which gives my PC a soft glow when superimposed. Maybe it has something to do with my shadows? No other texture has this particular problem for me. I'm still using it but just wondered if I can adjust something.
Thanks for the reply, I am using Community Shaders also. For ReShade, I'm not sure if this issue was present before installing, and I will double check by switching it on and off, but I'm pretty certain it was this way before too. Hmm, I'll play around with CS settings to see if anything changes.
If you have CS, you don't have to use much more Reshade shaders, it has already lot of nice shaders enabled. I just use one or two Reshade shaders in addition (check my Reshade True Light for CS preset).
Nope, but it should work without parallax as well, as they are just textures. When using parallax, it will also use the third heighmap texture (xxx_p.dds), but without parallax it will just use the two first textures (diffuse and normal map).
These textures look great. Have you considered opening permissions to allow a port to XBox (Bethesda.net)? I know the console community would love this mod.
Thanks. I’m not keen on porting this to Xbox, as the original texture is from Quixel, which is affiliated with Epic Games. If they discover it on Xbox, they might not be pleased. However, I believe they would be fine with a mod for Skyrim PC, as long as it’s non-commercial and we credits them. Still, we should use it with caution, as they could revoke permission at any time.
Sound like you don't use parallax meshes. This is textures only, so you still need special parallax meshes for that. Try this one for example: Vanilla Complex Parallax - Whiterun Or this one: Parallax Enabled Meshes Collection For parallax meshes. Also be sure to have Enbseries or Community Shaders with parallax enabled.
The wrstonefloor01 texture is a bit darker than the wrstonefloor02, and it is in the pack. It the most darker I can do without to be too dark comparing other textures.
