    What's it's purpose?
Like does it do anything, does it have like a "Death's Blessing" or something?
Or is it just a statue to look pretty for the brief moment you visit it?
What if it had "Death's Blessing" where once a day you can resurrect upon death or to make it more balanced: "While Death's Blessing is active you will resurrect upon death, thus losing Death's Blessing."
So the idea is that if you want "Death's Blessing" again you have to go and reactivate the statue, but at a cost.
In order to gain your soul back upon death, you must first offer a soul in exchange in the form of a 'Filled Grand Soul Gem'.
    Death is not cheap.
Just a thought I came up with as I was typing this message.

Oh, and it should be in the Soul Cairn!
As to make it more difficult to gain and thus more balanced.
Hey, you could even have the one near Whiterun and the one in the Soul Cairn, the one near Whiterun is just a fancy statue of Death's Angel with a little note about a legend guiding you to the real one in the Soul Cairn.
Again just a thought, but I think it'd be cool.

With a better screenshot of the statue we will have a better idea :)
