This fixed the "head stays the same" issue I was having with the original mod but I've encountered a texture issue. Once I change forms my characters head has a the standard purple color for missing textures. I've tried opening racemenu and changing skin color, reapplying presets, ect... The purple persists regardless. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this?

I was just about to comment the exact same thing! Still, step closer to the mod working.

Yeah, I've wanted to play a shapeshifter forever and this would be perfect if we can just get past this one issue. I don't see any issues with xedit but I'm planning to try it in some reduced load orders to see if there is some character visual mod that is causing the issue.

I posted this on the main mod but as an FYI I spent a while troubleshooting this today. With a minimal load order (just basic fixes), there is a workaround that if I go into racemenu I can adjust the skin and it will be okay again (e.g. not purple). This is annoying since it needs to be done every time I change but I could deal with it. But trying to integrate this mod into my normal load order (~1000 mods that have been added slowly over time with each playthrough and test) the purple persists even after racemenu adjustments to skin. I’m trying to determine what mod could be causing the workaround to fail but have so far been unsuccessful. Since it’s not this mod that is the root cause I’m widening the net to see if someone has seen this texture issue before and can help me fix it at the source. If I make any progress I’ll post here.

I've got ~500 mods, and I've found that if you switch to a new head, and then save and completely shut down skyrim, the textures seem to fix once you reload.

I also have this, but I think it might be because of the mod Race-Based textures. I'm not sure if you also have this but try removing it and see if it works.

I managed to get things working on my new load order. For reference I am now using Racial Skin Variance SPID and BnP skin with only a single skin type selected for PC. There are a few steps:

      • Build your preset and setup the mcm as normal then use the spell to transform into a cursed form - You will get a texture mismatch
      • Open Racemenu and apply the preset for the cursed form you are in twice (e.g. open racemenu, apply preset, close racemenu, repeat). If you don't do it twice it doesn't work.
      • Save game, exit to desktop, restart game and load your save. Textures should be fine now.
I tested it with different races and sexes it always worked with the above steps. It's a little clunky but honestly it only takes two minutes all in all so as long as you aren't planning to change forms constantly this works. Thanks for the patch again.

Great patch! Could it be possible to increase the time margins from dusk down to a whole 24h set? I find the current timers quite restrictive :( Ideally I would like to switch randomly for the whole day and when waking up going true form from cursed or the other way around...Thanks!

I think I've found a solution to the purple skin problem. It's one of the things I changed anyways and everything started working: Change RaceMenu mod's skee64.ini settings to bExternalHeads=1 in the [FaceGen] section

Let me know if it works!

Tried this and I still have the same issue plus it's switching to the default game preset when i switch back. Glad you got it working but it might not be feasible with my load order. I'm playing around with the shapeshifting spells in Tools of Karnec right now, might be able to tweak them to get the desired effect.
