Surely, there might be some ups to using the second one, especially in case of very bright skin textures (well, most of LE textures used be very bright imho).
Anyway, I think I will stick to version .421 .
The one of the right is similar to the SSS method used in the LE ENB.
The LE ENB SSS is an Option in the new binary so you would have to enable it for it to take effect.
And I agree that the LE-like SSS might be a good option under bright conditions since it is obviously less bright; I notice it immediately after it is enabled.
Thank you for your thoughtful input.
Be well my friend.
I'll go for the one on the right. Has she got slightly bigger boobs?
Boris developed a new SSS method that similar to the SSS in LE in that it does not reflect off tint masks, warpaint, etc.
Thanks for stopping by.
I continue to enjoy the Idiot Elf saga. Glad to see our dynamic duo out of the virus doldrums. :)
Be well my friend.
Idiot Elf wants to win the prize.
For close up screen shooting the left in main and top one in rest of set would be my choice due to overall image, and now you have got me thinking of going 4k on Lucinda's face!!!
Lol there goes 47 hours getting that right ha ha lol!!!! Thats what you get for staring into Amber,s eyes for a hour, picking the best SSS technique!!!!!
Cheers Gurley, I should have gone to bed an hour ago(ha ha lol) and I hope my post was helpful, look forward to seeing more, Michael!!!
(ps nice tune, HODOR))
You have a keen eye my friend and great insight into fine details.
I also prefer the left side image though the other certainly has its merits if you prefer less color saturation.
One thing I learned from LoneyKitsune is the new LE-like SSS technique ignores tint masks/makeup in calculating the SSS (light reflection off tintmasks is not considered) so from that perspective the Boris' original SSS method for the SE ENB is technically more accurate. Of course if you want less light reflection, for instance in bright light conditions, then enabling the new LE SSS option is a quick and easy way to reduce skin reflection brightness.
And yes, I do use 4k Fair Skin Complexion diffuse maps. At a distance you won't notice much difference in 2k textures but on closeups you definitely will. And all 4k textures are not recreated equal. For instance with some of the 4k skin textures Amber's nose looks fuzzy and stopped up but with FSC the nostril openings have depth and look realistic.
Sleep well my dear friend and yes, HODOR. :)
I think it's conceivable that SSS parameter adjustments with the new LE-like SSS enabled might make it virtually indistinguishable from Boris' original SSE ENB SSS. It would be interesting to understand that technical difference in implementation.
And thank you for your kind support my friend.
But whatever the choice we make, this shot is an example of your talent GurleyGirl.
And it would make a great painting of your character.
Greatly appreciated my friend.
And your are so correct about the subjectivity of taste.
There's an old American saying: there's no accounting for taste :)
Be well my good friend.
Hope all is well with you and yours my friend.
I also prefer the left side image for exactly the reasons you cite.
Hope you are doing well fair lady.
Love your imagery.
I also think the eyes have a more (can't think of the word) " I have a secret" look and "don't you wish you knew it".
Whichever you choose will be beautiful.
I also prefer the one on the left which is the SSE ENB subsurface scattering that Boris developed for SE.
Hope you and yours are doing well, Hun.
Enjoy.
Objectively, I will likely not enable the new SSS option most of the time.
I discussed it with Lonely who had seen a number of images and discussion on Boris' website and concluded that the new SSS method ignores tint masks, makeup, tattoos, etc. and I agree with him that light would not do that in real life so it doesn't seem to be technically as realistic in practice.
Having said that, in overly bright situations like snow on a bright sunny day, I might enable it to reduce skin texture washout. But as you suggest, it will take some in-game testing to see how it works.
Best wishes my friend.
Hope to see more of the dazzling Lacola soon. :)
