Out of curiosity, what's your settings in texgen and dyndolod?
    Can you share it?
    Or all defaults (high)?

TexGen = 1024, DynDOLOD = 1024. BUT... you get almost the same results visually using 512 for both. As long as your screen resolution is not greater than FHD you should be okay with 512. Since 4 times as many textures fit into 1 atlas tex, the renderer doesn't have to switch as often as with 1024 textures when you use 512, of course, but honestly, that is only 1-2 FPS difference for me on average (7300HQ, 4GB 1050ti, 16 GB RAM laptop) - the visual difference is minor, too. I am going to switch back to 512 in both programms because of my limiting hardware.

The model option (upper right in DynDOLOD) for my shot has been "High". "Medium" is fine, too, not much of a difference. Medium causes some more nasty popins though when models are switched and saves a little performance - your choice.

One additional information: I am using Ultra setting in BethINI. That means BethINI's ultra ones, so only 50.000, 72.500 and 95.000 for lod levels 4, 8 and 16. You can up these to 75.000, 100.000 and 150.000 to get better visual results in the distance if your rig is strong enough.

      Awesome!
Thank you so much, this is pretty helpful.
I was using 2048 and even 4096 on my desktop PC (coz 1440p) but on laptop I will consider using 512-1K since it's only 1080p

What about custom mesh rules , fake lights and atlas things? It's what makes me scratch my head sometimes due to the complicated RTFM

      Thank you my friend!

Sorry for additional question, but since you are using beth.ini, have you tried Skyrim optimized InIs in top?
It works pretty good for me, but I have never tried bethini

I am not tinkering with custom rules. You can, it is not difficult, just watch a video of GamerPoet on DynDOLOD. Just have as many bilboards or 3D lods as possible installed. Examples are the lods that come with Majestic Mountains or Mathy79's experimental lods for his 3D trees. Without proper lods you can get "wrong"/unfitting textures in the distance for trees or - if you change trees mesh rules or modify DynDOLOD's SSE.ini for them - can rely on the high resolution model at the expense of serious framerate drops. I try to prevent this any time.

Optimized inis? You mean handcrafted/modified ones? Oh no. BethINI is exactly what produces them. The only thing I modify myself are things like normaldiffuse-stuff to 1/0 for snow, but not the basic things. BethINI is simply proven to work and give the best results in 98% of the cases. It also helps to edit one's ENB according to what you want and your rig is able to pull.

      Noted, thank you.
Sounds good, will try BethINI out
GamerPoets have good videos, though I am not sure if mesh rules are covered (last time I watched a GamerPoets video was 2016 I think haha)

Mesh rules are covered in regards of lods, yes. And though the vid is a bit older everything is still valid, also for SSE.

Btw, in the image above you can see what happens when you set your lod 16 far distance (in BethINI or in general) to something like only 95.000. The result are the completely (lod=16) blurry mountains in the far left. Increase the value to something like 150.000 and you get structure (lod=8 or 10 e.g.). It is just about what your machine can handle.
