An ancient atmoran warrior king who came to Tamriel fleeing from a civil war raging on his own continent of Atmora. He is regarded as the first human ruler of Skyrim before recorded history. However, his true fame came from the aftermath of the tragedy known as "The Night of Tears", when the nord settlement of Saarthal was attacked by Snow Elves and all nords died except Ysgramor and his two sons, Yngol and Ylgar. As a consequence, they fled back to Atmora and gathered a 500-man strong fighting force who are known as the "Five Hundred Companions"
today. With this army, they sailed back and drove the elves from Skyrim and Solstheim, with Ysgramor becoming a nord hero in the process. Even today, the companions of Jorrvaskr consider Ysgramor to have been their only leader, every harbinger after him only ever gave counsel to their members. The band of warriors is also in the possession of several fragments of Ysgramor's legendary battleaxe Wuuthrad, which he used in the conquest of Skyrim.
