About this image

An ancient nordic warrior who lived in the first Era. He was the legendary jarl of Whiterun who captured the dragon Numinex within his place, which was named Dragonsreach in honor of this feat. After Numinex died imprisoned, the dragon's skull was kept as a trophy in Dragonsreach, where it can still be seen to this day. This enormous feat caused Olaf One-Eye to be named High King eventually, and his 32-year long reign had its share of controversies, the most infamous one being the imprisonment of the bard Svaknir, who accused the king of fabricating the story surrounding the capture of Numinex. Olaf had the bard imprisoned for life and every copy of the bard's verse denouncing the king was burned. Today, Olaf is mostly remembered positively by the people of Skyrim for reuniting Skyrim after the War of Succession that started when King Borgas, last heir of Ysgramor, died without progeny and for conquering the Reach from the native bretons.
