Skyrim Special Edition

Introduction

This tutorial will allow you to patch items from other mods.

How to use IED (for the purpose of this tutorial)

First, you'll need to access the IED interface while in game, the default key is "Backspace", and navigate to "Tools>Settings" using the bar at the top.
Then enable "Freeze time" and assign a "control lock release key". This will come in handy later:

Next, you'll need add new nodes for the AnimObjects used in the animations, by navigating to "Tools>Nodes".
Click on "File>New" to create new nodes like this (you can change the description later):

Then navigate to "View>Display manager>View>Custom items", select your character (either using Global tab with Player selected or Actor tab with your character selected).
And click on "Actions>New" to create a new display:

Now, select the item you want to patch. There are basically four animations for ingredients:
  • Small grip (for flowers and the like)
  • Medium grip (for mushrooms, eggs etc...)
  • Scooping (for bowls)
  • Both hands (for larger ingredients)

Depending on the ingredient you want to patch, you'll have to also assign a keyword using the KID file provided by the mod:
  • Keyword = AR_IngredientSmall|Ingredient|       ; For small grip
  • Keyword = AR_IngredientBowl|Ingredient|        ; For scooping
  • Keyword = AR_IngredientBig|Ingredient|           ; For both hands
P.S.: Medium grip is the default animation, so it doesn't need a keyword.
P.S.: Poisoning animation only has one variant.

After you decided the item you want to patch, select it in the custom display and assign its node:

Small, medium and both hands use the AnimObjectR node, Scooping and Poisoning animations use the AnimObjectL node.

With the display created, all you need to do is play the animation. Exit IED menu and find a similar item in your inventory and consume it. When the ingredient reaches your mouth (or the poison bottle reaches your weapon), open IED again and adjust the transforms.

You can use the list below for reference:
  • Small: FormID: 000134AA, EditorID: Thistle01, Name: Thistle Branch.
  • Medium: FormID: 00023D6F, EditorID: BirdEgg02, Name: Pine Thrush Egg.
  • Scooping: FormID: 00034CDD, EditorID: BoneMeal, Name: Bone Meal.
  • Both hands: FormID: 0006BC0A, EditorID: AntlersLarge, Name: Large Antlers.

When setting the coordinates, use the control realease key to take control of the camera to better position the item:

When you think you're satistified with the results, find the mesh file name for the item using xEdit or another method:

And add the transforms to the json file located at: SKSE\Plugins\StorageUtilData\ImmersiveInteractions. Remember to keep the mesh file name in lowercase and keep the .json syntax correct:

Now the mod will place the item correctly during the animations.
You can delete the custom display or just disable it for future uses.
