Skyrim Special Edition

Khajiit Will Follow x Vigilant Walkthrough Fair warning: This walkthrough will describe in at least vague terms what content is available in the KWF x Vigilant patch, and how to access it. While the purpose of the article is to point out "trouble spots" where the player may get stuck, It goes without saying that it will contain spoilers. Don’t read if you want to play Vigilant blind.

STARTING OUT Before you begin, KWF x Vigilant supports bringing all 4 KWF followers with you through the Vigilant mod. Your Primary Follower will have additional events and dialogue throughout the mod, in addition to basic quest commentary. Non-primary followers will only have basic quest commentary. It is generally assumed that once you start Vigilant, you will see it through to completion without stopping, and you will not recruit or dismiss any more KWF followers. There are several “points of no return” throughout each mod. You can prematurely terminate the KWF x Vigilant patch by speaking to your primary follower and choosing the “I don’t want you being a Vigilant, okay?” dialogue option, thought this option is not present for the entire patch.    Act I – Art of Mercy -- Recruit your followers before entering the inn in Dawnstar. If you accept Altano’s invitation to the Vigilants without having your chosen KWF followers recruited, you CANNOT progress the KWF x Vigilant patch. -- After arriving at the Temple of Stendarr, your primary follower for Vigilant can be changed by removing the Horn of Stendarr from their inventory and giving it to another KWF follower. This works until the end battle of the first act. NOTE: Changing Primary Followers has NOT been tested past Act 1, and it is recommended you finalize your decisions BEFORE beginning Vigilant. -- Before leaving the temple at the beginning of every act, make sure you re-recruit your followers from their idle positions. -- All KWF followers have quest commentary after basically every stage of every quest in the first act, and in some cases will have multiple comments on a given stage. Speak to your follower to hear their comments. The more you talk to them, the more they will have to say. The Primary Follower will take part in several scenes that play automatically, and will have several developed conversations with you about events in the questline. -- If you find any *ahem* strange doorways in the Ratway, it is advised you do NOT meddle in affairs beyond your understanding until after finishing Vigilant and the KWF x Vigilant patch. -- [SPOILER] I have not tested the skip to Act 4 where you kill Carene in the Altar of Molag Bal after killing Altano, because I couldn’t get past a game-breaking hang in the scene where Lilian kills the player. Proceed with caution, or better yet: Spare Carene, you callous monster. Act II – Blood Matron --Followers will return to their spots in the Temple once you enter, and have additional conversations. You can re-recruit them when you’re ready to leave. -- There is quest commentary related to Reyda the Witch, if you encountered her in Act I. It is mostly for the Primary follower only. -- Once again, all four followers have quest commentary for nearly every stage of every quest in Act 2, including commentary while you’re in proximity to certain structures (i.e. the statue in the jail, near the old well, down in the old well, etc.). The more you talk to them, the more they will have to say. The Primary Follower will also take part in several scenes that play automatically, and will have several developed conversations with you about events in the questline. Act III – Child of Oblivion -- There are multiple ways to progress at the start of this act. When it’s time to leave the temple, you can wake the primary follower to re-recruit them, you can let them sleep and recruit all your non-primary followers independently, or you can let your primary follower sleep and leave if you have no non-primary followers. -- There are scripted events and some commentary in this Act, but it is almost entirely limited to the primary follower. -- [Spoiler] Yes, the followers are supposed to get locked out of the mansion. Until the end of the act, if you have a KWF follower in the mansion with you, it is a bug. Act IV – Coldharbour -- To begin this portion of the patch, explore the Waterfront district until you find the skeleton in the house where the Anatomancer is chained to the wall. Speak to the skeleton, and it will lead you back to its house and make a request of you. It should be fairly obvious how to progress from that point. -- You will receive a summoning horn from Khajiit when you speak to it and choose “Where should we search...?” for the first time. This horn functions very similarly to the Khajiit-attuned Horn. Additionally, using the horn and choosing to “listen to the whispers” will provide trackable quest objectives for Khajiit’s quest items. -- [SPOILERS] Khajiit’s parts are scattered throughout Coldharbour, and your ending depends on how many parts you return to it. Choose the “I have something for you” dialogue to return items, and afterwards, choose the “How do you feel?” option to have a short conversation about the returned item. Credit will be applied when you finish the conversation. You must return at least 11 items to get the “good” ending. -- [SPOILERS] You must bring Khajiit with you to Aetherius to return its final missing part, and its missing part can only be obtained from the GOOD Aetherius after having seen at least 5 “Dreams” in Coldharbour. Activate the statue in Aetherius to begin. After Khajiit runs down the walkway to the top of the stairs, speak to it one more time before leaving Coldharbour. Act V – Epilogue -- [SPOILERS] After returning to Skyrim, a message will pop up about a nearby Alfiq. Speaking to the Alfiq will cause it to either look to the north or the far southeast. If it looks to the north, you can find your follower back at the Temple of Stendarr, along with any non-primary KWF followers. If it looks to the southeast, you’ll first need to make a detour to the Altar of Molag Bal beneath the Beacon of Stendarr, southeast of Riften. Use the trapdoor to the left of the Beacon’s entrance to access the basement, and follower the basement to the Altar. Speak to the Reclaimer, and make your choice. -- [SPOILERS] If you reject the Reclaimer’s offer, or if you escaped Coldharbour by speaking to the Anatomancer in the Waterfront District, your primary follower is lost forever. Choices, consequences, and all that. This is the worst ending. Lol. -- After re-recruiting your primary follower and any non-primary followers at the Temple of Stendarr, the patch’s final quest will complete.
