Everyone who still plays Skyrim has already migrated to a new anniversary update, while some have even purchased creation club content that was released at about the same time. With that content came quite a few features related to horses that didn't play well with Convenient Horses. To name the few: wild horses, steel and elven horse armor, horse saddles, all of it was getting in the way of the mod and required a proper update.

Mod has been updated to version 7.1 and with it improvements to horse training, which is now faster, gives better bonuses and allows re-specialization through additional training. Bethesda has also separated horse and mane as two separate meshes to prevent mane clipping when horse armor is equipped, something that Convenient Horses has been doing with its dynamic mane behavior which is now obsolete.

As a part of 7.1 mod update also comes the patch for those who purchased the creation club content, that fixes all the incompatibilities. Wild horses can be tamed without mod interfering. Steel and elven horse armor is added to mod's equipment collection when purchased and new saddles are collected by default. All new items are supported through mounted looting, harvesting and crafting material management.

That is all for this update. I wish you all happy new year 2022 and to enjoy the game.

Thank you message to mitchalek the author of this great mod:Friend I want to thank you for adapting this mod, you have managed to do such a good job that it practically does not feel like a mod, it feels like it is a natural part of the game and that is a wonderful achievement, when I first used the original Convenient Horses mod on my old Skyrim LE I must say that this is what I expected back then, although I admit that the MCM interface of the Skyrim LE version was quite practical and I quickly got used to it, its use made me lose all immersion, since let's be honest beyond the practicality most of those who complain about this new version of your mod simply miss the MCM of the old version because of how practical it was to be able to change the skin of the horses and the armor from a menu, that is, as much love as I feel for the original, the original mod was limited to being just a great skin selector and nothing more, I know that you must have heard many people criticize your new mod myself I have I’ve read several people on Nexus, Forums, and Reddit all complaining about this mod not being a direct port of the previous version, please don’t take those people the wrong way, don’t see it as a negative, see it as a compliment, those people loved your original mod so much, they felt so attached to the previous version that they are in denial, they refuse to try something different, something more immersive and new, because that is your mod, an experience so immersive that if the “Immersive Horses” mod didn’t have the name already taken this mod could perfectly replace it, I repeat, you have managed to make a mod feel like a natural part of the Vanilla game and that is what I loved the most. This mod now allows you to feel a more real experience with your horse, give it a name, feel like it is another companion in the game, I also loved your new mounts and armor, having each hold of skyrim give you special mounts for becoming Thane feels really good, so much so that combined with other mods you can really feel how you progress. Well, I've already written too much and I started to talk too much. Once again, thank you very much. A few days ago I returned to the world of Skyrim. I had never bought Skyrim SE before and this mod of yours is one of the ones I most wanted to install again. As a person open to new things, I gladly tried your mod knowing that it would be different. Thank you very much for fulfilling my expectations so well. This mod is everything I expected. Thank you very much for your work in all these years.

Convenient Horses Anniversary Edition Patch doesn't seem to be working correctly, the horse armors won't be added no matter how many times you bought them, nor are they showing up in the horse equipment section.
    I'm using game version 1.6.640.

I can confirm that. I bought both steel and elven armor from skulvar and none are either showing on my horse nor avaiable in change in horse menu.

For me, it is working without issues. Horses wear the armor I buy for them.

Wild Horses are detected by Convenient Horses, the quest starts with them as well. The quest is not supposed to show as soon as you ride them for the first time, but after the first ride. Ride for some time, dismount, and the quest starts. I had only once the issue of the quest not starting, but I restarted from the save I made just before taming the horse, then it worked.

If one uses the second file (only, the one that refers to purchasing AE), as Wild Horses are not part of the free AE update.

I have a similar issue. Though it also makes it so the default saddle for the wild horses is no equipment.

I was able to add the steel and elven AE armor successfully when I was playing 1.6.353. When I updated to 1.6.640, I can no longer add the 2 AE armors to the collection.

It works for me, but I prefer most of the horse bardings from this mod over the 2 Creation Club Horse Armor ones.

there is lack of an added effect on doomSteedAbility spell related to survival mode. In result steed is greatly inferior to to a horse in usability.

    Three questions.

    1) Does this mod and Anniversary edition patch still work with the newest version of the game? (I know that bethesda fked a lot of modders with new updates.)

    2) Is an install halfway through ok.

    3) I see there was a compatibility note on Realistic Horse Breeds, is there also any with fluffworks mod that I need to be aware of? (I also have bellyaches animals mod)

I just want to be able to have storage in my horses for survival mode :/

Thank you - I am really happy to see this mod updated for the AE version.
A quick question though - is dwarven's horse equipment disabled by default (I assume for mesh clipping reasons) or am I having a problem?
Also, if the dwarven horse cannot equip armor (dwarven, for example, I would love to make it an armoured juggernaut) by default, is there a quick way to flag it differently in CK, or would I need to dive into the scripts to make it work like other horses?

    Cheers!

With a horse I bought in Whiterun, I added the Dwarven barding, which I crafted (you need to craft it once and it then becomes accessible to all horses you control, that is your horse and those of your Followers).  I wanted to level Smithing anyhow, so it worked for me.

Right, but the dwarven horse from Forgotten Seasons does not seem to have any equipment-related dialogue options.
