Skyrim Special Edition

While I don’t intend for NVICO to be an AIO Character Overhaul as it’s outside the scope of this mod. I also understand that some users want their player characters to resemble NPCs from this mod for consistencies sake. So, I’m going to list out the steps required to achieve that goal, but be prepared for a good amount of downloading and manual replacement of files.

(Special Note: Don’t worry about converting any mentioned textures for SSE as they’re already compatible.)

Step 1: Install Expressive FaceGen Morphs – Main File not the RaceMenu Plugin version (Differences between the two versions come down to their compatibility with older RaceMenu presets)

Step 2: When installing High Poly Head choose the Expressive FaceGen Morphs option in its FOMOD

Step 3: Install Realistic Hair Colors to have your hair colors match NVICO NPCs; Mild Hair Colors is a decent alternative and Diversity comes per-packaged with its own set of hair colors.

Step 4: Install Vanilla Makeup HD for a look consistent with NVICO NPCs; tintmasks included with Total Character Makeover are a great alternative if you prefer them.

Step 5: Download but don’t install ALT1 Female Skins, Dizona Body, and Fair Skin.

Step 6: Navigate to the textures – actors – character– character assets – tintmasks folder for every mod mentioned in Step 4.

- From ALT1 grab femalehead_cheeks, femalehead_frownlines, femaleheaddirt_01, femaleheaddirt_02, femaleheaddirt_03, femaleheadhuman_nose, femalelowereyesocket, femalenordeyelinerstyle_01, and femaleuppereyesocket.

- From Dizona grab malehead_frekles_01, malehead_nose, maleheaddirt_01, maleheaddirt_02, maleheaddirt_03, malelowereyesocket, maleuppereyesocket, and redguardmaleeyelinerstyle_01.

- From Fair Skin grab femaleheadbreton_lips, femaleheadhighelf_lips, femaleheadimperial_lips, femaleheadnord_lips, femaleheadredguard_lips, and femaleheadhuman_neck.

Step 7
: Place all these files in the mod staging folder for either Vanilla Makeup HD or Total Character Overhaul using the textures – actors – character – character assets – tintmasks folder structure to locate where their tintmasks are located. Before placing the new textures in the folder backup the old textures to prevent time-consuming mod reinstalls. Also backup the new textures to prevent having to recollect them all. Once that’s done place the new tintmasks
in the folder and choose Yes to Overwrite. Deploy your new mod and check in game to see if you like it.

Vanilla Hair Texture Replacement

To get vanilla hair to match the look of the new custom hairs we’re going to do one more texture swap.

Step 1: First download but don’t install SC – Vanilla Female NPC Overhaul.

Step 2
: Inside the mod navigate to textures – actors –character – hair and copy the folder.

Step 3: Paste the folder in your HD tintmasks or Total Character Overhaul or other vanilla hair texture replacer folder, using the textures – actors – character directory.

Step 4
: Deploy it and check in game.

(Optional) Female Age Complexion

To get the desired appearance of 40-year-old females in game as demonstrated by Delphine in the Photos section you have to retrieve one more texture from ALT1. (Note: The following steps can be skipped by installing Mild Complexions as I feel it's a decent alternative to the ALT1/Dizona complexions.)

Step 1: Navigate to the textures – actors – character – female inside ALT1.

Step 2: Copy the femaleheaddetail_age50 file and paste it in either a temporary folder or your desktop. Rename it femaleheaddetail_age40.

Step 3: Paste it in your selected female skin textures, textures – actors – character – female directory and select Yes to Replace.

Step 4: You can also use the same file to replace femaleheaddetail_age50 as ALT1 doesn't have a proper age 50 texture.

Step 5: Deploy the file and check it out in game.

Closing Notes

I recognize all of this is quite a hassle, but permissions keep me from directly redistributing the files. I’ll see about finding a simpler method in the future, but hopefully the process helped you discover a few new mods that you might enjoy.

From there the rest is up to you concerning skin, eyes, and brows. I will list out the mods included in the screenshots to get you started
however:

Male Skin: SAM Light Texture Add-On for SAM Light Body

Female Skin: Fair Skin for UNP, (To Best Approximate the Custom Face Normal Map – Use Tempered Skin’s femalehead_msn, femalebody_1_msn, and femalehands_1_msn files)

Eyes: Authentic Eyes

Brows: Brows
