Skyrim Special Edition

If you have mods that add new wells to locations old and new, you might like to have them work as well. While I'll be making patches for mods I use myself (provided there's no permission issue), I cannot make them for each and every existing mod. This tutorial, however, is for those who want to make their own, hoping to make the task as easy as possible. It's thought to be beginner-friendly, so more experienced modders might find some information reduntant - but I'd rather bore the hell out of advanced users than taking too much for granted and leaving others at loss. If you think something is missing or have any question, feel free to ask.

1) - Launch the Creation Kit. Open Data (the yellow folder) and select two plugins: WaterfromWells and whatever else you want to patch (in this case, Soljund's Sinkhole. Hit OK. Do NOT set any as active (you don't want to edit any of them, but to make a new plugin based on them).

2) In order to make a new plugin, click Save. Call it however you want.

3) Now you need to find the well you want to make functional. In Cell View, find the relevant cell (in this case, it's Tamriel - SoljundsSinkholeExterior; most small settlements will be found under Tamriel after a similar fashion). Find the well's editor on the right side - it helps if you start writing "well" in the space above. Right click and select "View".

4) This way the well and its surroundings will appear in the render window. It might take a bit to load everything.

5) Now you want to find the activator from this mod. Go to Object Window, select *All (the last one at the bottom) and in the Filter box start writing "DrawWellWater" if you're using the standard version, or "0well" if you're using Skyrimaguas' scriptless alternative. Once you find it under "Editor ID", drag it with your mouse to the render window and drop it in the middle of the well. It'll appear like an orange bar.

6) You can right click on the orange bar and select "edit" do adjust its size and position. Make it large enough to be easy to reach. Once you're satisfied hit Save and close the Creation Kit.

7) Now you probably want to Esl-flag it - it's entirely optional but I doubt you want to lose an Esp slot on this. So, open your new pluging in ssedit.
Right click -> Compact FormIDs for ESL

8) Once it's done, expand it and select Header. Move to the right side, right click to the right of Record Flags, select ESL and save everything.

...and you're done! You can move your plugin in your Mod folder, or compress it and install it like a regular mod. In your LO obviosuly put it below the mods it's meant ot patch. If you need anything else, just let me know.

I want to patch JK's Skyrim but once I complete CK and installed my patch in a separate file. It didn't take any effect at all. The same modification work only I edit in the original JK file. What could I do to make it work in my own file?
