To summarise how to fix this weapon if you're having a problem, this is what I did and it worked (might not be the most efficient way). Install his old version of the mod. Then install the new one. Then follow Demanson's advice:

"Open up all the .dds texture files with gimp. This should be as simple as firing up gimp, selecting open and opening up filename.dds. Uncheck Load mipmaps so that you load only the main texture layer. then simply save it, by clicking File>Save As "I had to click File>Export save as didn't give me the options I needed. A saving dialogue box will open, click on the file type drop down click .dds file type click next. A different saving dialogue box will open where it says Compression select BC1/DXT1 then check the flag next to Generate Mipmaps then click save. Do this to all textures that came with the mod. Next open the mesh file Ashbringer.nif just the one not both I only found one error in them and it was only in the normal mesh, "block list" go down to line 16 BsShaderTextureSet click it, "Block details pane" should have two lines, Num Textures. leave this line alone, second line Textures: click arrow to expand, gives list of textures for this block second texture reads: textures\weapons\Iron\Ashscabbards_n.dds Change this to: textures\weapons\ashbringer\Ashscabbards_n.dds. and your done".

For that you will need to download GIMP to do the textures, and NIFskope to do the .nif file. I got the latest version of GIMP and there was no 'save as' option that let me change compression, I did 'Extract as'. Also there was no box to uncheck when I loaded them saying 'load mipmaps'.

    I hope that helps anyone!
