Nice to see some semi-realistic* lutes, this and the original, as possible replacers for Beth's stringed hybrid wachamacallit (NOT a "lute"). I'd imagine, this in wealthier areas, especially at courts, the instruments might well be decorated with gold chasings, while such might be asking-to-be-mugged if taken travelling in a land with many bandits as Skyrim, so maybe a mod with both kinds of decorations might be nice... *: An obvious flaw though is that if you look at ANY real life stringed instrument, you will see that the neck does not stop at the top of the body, but projects down roughly to half-way (or so) to the sound hole, or to where it might be in those instruments that use 'f' clef sound holes, like violins. Musicians value the ability to get those top/high notes ! Of course, the next thing, might be to get some decent genuine lute (not guitar, either) music for the game, in reasonable variety beyond just two or three songs being played over and over and over.... I think 'Anna NPCs' does something of this, but here I'm just thinking of standard in-game music without any other additions. Cheers !
Playing guitar and lute for 20 years now and i have a decent collection of medieval instruments, starting with an Alemannic Warrior Lyre replicated with patterns from 600 A.D. (which definitely served as template for the vanilla in game lute), going all the way through history, up to a 15-stringed Renaissance Lute and a Guitar Lute from 1850. None of them is build to play in high ranged scales, because this developed much later. A Lyre has no frets and is played by blocking the strings you don´t want to hear. On a renaissance lute and guitar lute (body shape comes from the classical arabic instrument "Oud"), the body starts at the 10th fret, classical guitar 12th fret, acoustic guitar 14th fret and electric guitar 17th fret.

The textures are beautiful, I'm using Rally's Instruments HQ textures currently.. the only problem with the model this texture set is based on is, the lute neck is too short for the bard's animation so for example at Bannered Mare, Michale's hand is actually clipping through the headstock on the lower chords (further out on the neck) and kinda floating above the neck otherwise. The older Lute model from Realistic Lute (not the Witcher one) works better with the animation, but sadly the textures on that one is not as good looking as these. I tried to see if I could apply the textures from this mod to that one but alas, the UV mapping is completely different and honestly doesn't make very good use of the 2K texture space it uses, I was going to try to remap the model to your textures but it proved to be not worth the hassle for me using Nifscope.
Just wanted to point out the animation problem with this model since I do like this more historical styled Lute, it's just not usable for me due to the clipping. So far your other texture replacers are good enough for now and will endorse that one. Great work on textures in any case!
thanks, glad you like them :) i´m not using the witcher lute in game. i made this texture replacer, cause it has been requested by Pfuscher ;) so any issues with meshes are related to the original "Witcher Lute Mod" would be better discussed on that mod page.
