PATRICIAN ENB 2.9 is available !

    Hi dear Players,

What a pleasure to upload an update of my ENB in 2025!!! The pleasure is mine and also the pleasure to share with users of course. I know i have faithful users of my ENB, so it's my duty to follow you during your amazing adventures Gameplay or screenarchery.
The goal has always been about quality over quantity.

I joined Nexus in December 2007 when i discovered modding on Oblivion. Original upload of my ENB was in July 2019. So, my ENB is 6 years old and it improved with time. Let's be clear, Patrician ENB has never been a quick and dirty release as it can be seen a bit with several ENBs on LE and enormously on SE/AE.
Patrician ENB is a precise ENB, full of details, very custom and unique of course.

What makes Patrician ENB so unique?

    - My style Obviously, my ENB has a unique touch. You recognize it.
    - My experience. Believe me, it's important. This experience teached me what is important about visual.
    - Tweaked for 6 years! That's something!
    - A complete "ENB weatherlist" regarding weathers. Each weather is independent/ seperated. Massive control on every effects for each type of weather. Clear, foggy, rainy, overcast, cloudy, aurora, dlc, new lands, etc.... This is the way. There is no other way to make a good
    ENB. Period.
    - A complete " location weather". It is used to make unique interiors. Seperated tweaks for all kind of interior according to the lighting mod. I also use this technic to tweak interiors for some new land mod which use custom values. ENB which use this feature are very very very rare. In Skyrim, each cell has an unique location ID. Patrician ENB recognize the ID and triggers the corresponding ENB ini file. Neat!
    - All gradients have custom colors. Finest colors tweaked by me and complimented by NLVA.
    - Unique cloud settings for each weather. Obviously, a cloudy weather isn't an overcast weather nor a snowy weather. in addition, this allow me to highlight custom cloud assets from NLVA.
    - Ambient lighting is custom on color, on 3 level (top , middle, bottom), interior and exterior, for each individual weather. Yes, that's what we are talking about.
    - High quality bloom. The bloom is top notch.
    - No overexposure. It's an illness on the SE/AE platform but Patrician ENB doesn't fall in this trap regarding adaptation, direct and ambient lighting. Brightness where you need, appealing darkness, balanced skylighting, comfortable cloud shadow. It's here.
    - Very good subsurface scattering. The skin of your character. This is good. Works with many skin mods. Male, female, orc, elves, bright and dark skin.
    - Non intrusive image basedlighting
    - Direct X9 are just perfect for ENB series Power and visual.
    - It's not something you'll see on SE/AE.
    - The NLVA esp has been edited. So, it's unique.
    - I play my ENB. Indeed, my game is very custom and i love to play it.
All is edited, merged, tweaked, etc... It's my vision of modding, very
far from collections and trends. This means my ENB is checked anywhere.
    - My ENB is comfortable. Good adaptation, good colors, not too bright, not too dark, good night. It's enjoyable for your eyes. You like to play or taking screenshots.
    - Patrician ENB will show you details. Texture quality, parallax effect, palette. On a side note, if you want high precision and if you play high resolution ( 1440p or 2160p), you can remove the EDGE AA in the ENBGUI ( enbgui/ antialiasing)
    - Patrician ENB is very easy to run with new technology ( GPU, CPU, RAM)

That's it! Now you know why my creation is so unique.
I hope you'll have fun whatever you do with your game.
    Be proud!

    Regards

    MARMOTTE

Hello honorable Marmotte, still enjoying and reveling in your old ENB for SE.

This will probably be the hundredth such question, please forgive me, I don't follow Discord and other communities very much, but are you planning to return to the SE/AE scene ?
Actually just wondering the reason why you moved away from this version of the game.
Fan of your work, thanks and sorry if I caused any uncomfortable deja vu.

      Hi Nibenus,

Thank you for your message. That's very kind.
I also appreciate that you want some news about the SE/ AE version. It's currently hidden on the SE/AE page.

Short words: i don't obtain better visual with my actual Patrician ENB SE/AE. It's currently entirely tuned for NAT weather/ LUX/ Game volumetric rays/ All complex effects. It's "technicaly" superior of course ( more enb binaries update)..... but visualy, it doesn't have a huge visual impact like mine on LE. I tried everything but all my results reach what you can actually find on all current available ENBS.
I don't manage to find an ENB idendity and find it rather "boring". It also lacks style.

In addition, a huge majority of the SE/AE community is fan of MASSIVE direct lighting (the one which crush the ground   ) , ultra bright ENB presets and ultra powerful volumetric rays.
I'm at the opposite of this kind of modern tweaks. I simply prefer compromise and i doubt i can reach this "compromise" on SE/AE.

      Here are my thoughts.

I don't think that players need another clone ENB.
Well, for now and with my actual tweaks, i have no real reason to upload it again and unhide my SE/AE enb.

      Regards

I give you an example of a trend for you to understand.
      https://www.reddit.com/r/SkyrimPorn/comments/1i7me0d/volumetric_moonlight/

Many likes, players love that, a real plebiscite!
I personaly think that it's ugly, unplayable and inconsistent. In addition, this kind of tweak "may" work in forest, but without forest, the visual is broken.
That's just game volumetric rays sync on moon by night with a high value (maybe around 10).

the SE/AE trend is not my trend.
I have many example like this one.

I understand your concern, for me the natural, aesthetic and quite distinctive works were
Rudy and yours, they really look alive with the right configurations.
Well I should probably install LE in parallel, can't wait to see the further development of your brainchild.

Many thanks for your time !

Thanks, Marmotte, and I see your point perfectly. The scenery only suggests that there's a floodlight system in the background, or even more so, a lit prison yard. It doesn't fit my idea of Skyrim, and I sometimes wonder why these kinds of lighting effects are so celebrated today. It tastes like sugared soda with artificial flavors.

A good ENB is like wine; it reflects the character of the winemaker. Patrician ENB is the Chateau Petrus. Thank you for your work, and I hope you find a way to enchant us again in SE.

How hard is this for performance? It looks insane. Ive been loyal to rudy as i can lower the quality and play in my old rog at 30 fps. But i tried snowfall and tetrachromatic and got 20 or less. So my question, since this looks amazing, is it more or less the same, or more demanding than rudy? And also, thabks for keep updating LE. I have seen tons of screenshots of various enbs but tbh it never looks as good. Even with all the 8k textures and all. There is something missing. I think it is the fact that you neeed to work around the ingame shaders but in here you can do whatever.

    Good work dude.

Hi Deno. It's more or less the same.
I consider my ENB as performance friendly.
Keep in mind that my ENB is available in 3 versions.
In my opinion, select the normal or the feather version for high FPS.

Ok, will try. I got se to have a different setup. And man. Is not like i have nostalgia glasses. I got le 1 yeqr ago. But for all good things se does, i think le has more ups than downs. Enbs being one of the strongest points.

I truly miss playing with this ENB so much. =( Specifically the original version here for LE that came straight from your Skyrim Scandal blog, it really is the prettiest ENB Skyrim has ever seen. 100%. Is there any hope at all for that specific version to be brought over to SE? Is there any ENBs already out there for SE that come even remotely close to Patrician? Can I play with the LE Patrician on SE or will it not work? =(

      Hi Mother,

I still don't manage to find the right spot on SE/AE unfortunatly.
Some things are good on SE/AE but i don't find my identity (lack of color, lack of contrast, lack of "life", etc...).
I'm rather interested by balanced ENB ( both gameplay and screenarchery), but in this case i'm struggling with SE/AE despite the time i have already spend and up to date enb binaries.
Sometimes, SE/AE shines and sometimes it's outdated.

Patrician LE can't work on the SE/AE version. Don't even try

Small comparison for you with an NPC replacer on a standard gameplay (assets are exactly the same)

You can see. i'm far....very far.
I can't upload the version on the right. i'm too picky for that.
I'll upload when i'll have better.

      Oh!

relighting skyrim like some indoor fires are in wrong position like for example at sleeping giant inn and old hroldan inn (specially this one its very noticable its floating actually)

the combination of vivid weather and nlva produces blue textures for light snow (snowstorm is fine though)

these are the few errors i've seen so far I don't know if there's more

you can check the mod's comments/bugs section for them and to be clear its not your mods fault

And the links in the description page too some are not working too so I can't fully test it

      Hi,
      Your comment is true.

Regarding lighting mods, well,  you'll never find a perfect one unfortunatly.

Believe me, if it exists, i would use it. I try them all and they have all flaws.
I selected RS+ELE for its lightweight and compatibility.

Regarding snow, i don't really have "blue snow" textures. But i'll take a look at them.

      Thanks for the feedack.

      Hi Silkroad,

Thanks for giving a try Patrician ENB. Highly appreciated!
Indeed, high enb computers run flawlessly ENBS without decent impact on performances. It was harder in 2013

Regarding your images, this seems fine. The weather mod seems correctly installed, the sharpness is here and color seems to the point.
Regarding lighting, if you need ELE (because it was removed from the Nexus), you can write me if you have some needs.

      About suggestions,

      1) Memory
My enb local calculate your memory available. So, that's easy. Use crash fix plug in to smooth your game and use SKSE of course. The memory management is very important in LE. I can guarantee that your can go very high regarding assets and load order.

      2) texture selection
In LE or SE, textures must be selected and tested.
"Packs All in one " do rarely a good and entire job. So, i recommend so customised your textures.
      Short word: Mix and match!

      3) caution with drawcall count
drawcall is the weakness of Skyrim LE, so caution with that. Caution with all the high poly stuff. Search light meshes which can already make a good job.

      4) Custom Skyrim
In 2024, users of Patrician ENB like to customise the game (a lot) with custom meshes, textures, Se ports, etc.
      i'm part of these gamers.
It's clearly the opposite of Nexus collections and "all in one instalation".

      5) make a lot of mods combo
You can obtain insane result when you make combo (cities, landscapes, environement, etc...)
If necessary, i correct things with TES5edit ( ex: removing or moving assets)
The advantage is that combo are personal, so your skyrim is unique and not just a copy.

      6) merge mods/ merge esp
      It's necessary in LE
All the armor part is merged in my game. 1 esp for all new armor entries and sended to the levelled list.
You can also merge all safe mods.

      Here are my thoughts.

      regards

i see btw this must be ultra/kaiju version and after using gtx 1050m for years i literally expected some heavy hits :D

1-so far 0 crash with my old gtx 1050m it was crashing always before crossing the whiterun bridge even with some few mods on as you can see in the screenshots i managed to cross and entered to whiterun after a long time :)

2-im using noble skyrim all in one as LE has less variety each day, even so ill try my best to mix

3-i have no idea whats that but im using rtx 4080m now its a beast comparing to my old one and even unreal engine games like lord of fallen 2 gives good fps on ultra so it wouldnt be a problem i think?

4-im planning to make 700-800ish modlist of my own will share when it finish

5-i dont know anything about tes edit so ill try to see what i can do

6-same applies for merging :( im still a noob and dont have proper time to play anymore :'(

thank you for feedback and special thanks to you for your preset as im going to use it for the rest of the game on LE you are the best <3
also i forgot to mention that i have ELE LE installed as well thank you for that

      3) yes, the 4080 is probably a beast
Currently, i'm running my games with a rtx 3080 ti at 1440p. It's powerful too.

      So, i also recommend you to play at 1440p ( 2560x1440) . You'll have 60fps solid.
Maybe you can also try 4k (3840x2160) but you'll probably have some fps drop sometimes.

At 1440p or 2160p, you can remove the edge AA from the enb. You'll have more precision and fps gain.

      regards

btw 1440p is basically 2k right?
    5. marmotte
      marmotte

      Not exactly.

      - 1440p is more traditionally categorized as 2.5K resolutions aka QHD or WQHD
      - 1080p is Full HD
      - 2K is 2048x1080
      - 4K is 2160p or UHD
      - and you also have all various ultrawide resolutions

If you have the right monitor ( 1440p or 4K) , you'll have a very nice precision with 1440p (Skyrim and my ENB have a real advantage on these resolution). 2160p is the cherry on the cake.

i use 1440p for normal gameplay and 2160p for screenshot ( with a rtx 3080ti)

To be honest , all those resolutions have always been a mess in Skyrim because authors also use this vocabulary for texture size.

      For example:
      2K textures mean 2048x2048
      4K textures mean 4096x4096

      Short word:

You have the resolution of the game and you also have resolution of textures. Same vocabulary but not exactly the same resolution.

      Here are my thoughts

    Greetings Marmotte!

Incredible quality ENB! Thank you for your work and attention to every detail of lighting/effect!
I especially like these volume fogs and great SSR setting! 🖤 🖤 🖤
P.S. This is the first ENB where I didn't need to edit ini files! Haha... It's just awesome! ... Maybe in the future, for some close-up screenshots of weapons and jewelry, I will still have to make a small change to adjust the lens effect (like the lens effect in Silent Horizons enb) for the metal shine and reduce the brightness a little for the green grass.

      Hi Belphegor,

Thank you very much for your comment. Highly appreciated.

I also would like to thank you for your screenshots and the effort you put in. I'm always proud when talented screenarchers like you use my ENB. It's rewarding.

Yes, my ENB is detailled and rather neat... for a good reason. i'm still working on it right now. This means 5 years of work , tweak and improvement (since the release). The ENb is always very revelant in 2024.

Regarding the metal shine, maybe you could search the " specular from light" effect or simply the "specular" effect. It's rather pronouncing in my ENB....because i like shiny metal It's up to you. I don't use the lens effect like Silent Horizon ENB. And you know SE/AE ENB react differently...

Well, thank you for your comment and feedback.

A new version 2.9 is coming.

Wow! The ENB update is such great news! I can't even imagine what else could be added to such a high-quality project...
I was honestly extremely surprised when I launched Patrician on the latest ENB series 0.479 Before that I continued to use v0.434 due to support for most other LE ENBs that stopped being updated by their authors, and replacing ENBseries with a more modern version resulted in a mess in the ENB menu and some visual lags. So, all the new effects remained simply unavailable to me. Patrician is literally a look at completely new possibilities! My dear friend Polina (a big fan of your project) very often advised me to install Patrician. I am really so glad that I finally got around to working with your ENB! For Skyrim screenarchery - this is just a gem!  "I would also like to thank you for your screenshots and the effort you put in... " (c) Thank you very much! Very nice words from such a talented author! I really appreciate it, my friend!

A small wish for the upcoming ENB update: If you don't mind, may I ask you to lower the brightness a little for green plants in bright weather conditions? Dark plants look great, but bright greens become just acidic. I know you are not a fan of bright ENBs and this madness that reigns on the side of SE ENBs. It seems that the authors began to compete who will make ENB brighter... I feel like they're going to start throwing stones at me now. Lol.

Nights seems very balanced to me.

      Greetings my friend!
The nights look just divine! I meant only the daytime which makes the green plants very bright. In any case, these are just little things! ^^
Btw, a very interesting mod “slightly Better Dust aka Dust not Clouds” by FrankBlack appeared on the SE side, which could replace “Light Beam Fix”  (be an excellent addition to the general ENB recommendations)
