At high level allies become useless with this, allied dragons do no damage to enemies which makes no sense, neither do summons or pets like riekling followers.
then dont download the mod? thats kind of the point of the mod, to make your allies as useless as you.
this mod appears to be for those who want followers to not defeat the purpose of the difficulty, for me i always avoid using followers summons etc on legendary difficulty because it defeats the spirit of it, whats the point in making the game excessively hard if im just going to use things in the game that circumvent that difficulty.
In vanilla skyrim, followers and summoned creatures are not affected by higher difficulty. So they usually slain all enemies easily at legendary difficulty while player cannot do anything. This mod fix it. Now followers are weaken too at the higher difficulty. This is essential game fix imo.
Vanilla Skyrim = you put difficulty on legendary, you get weakened, its easy to die, but allies stayed the same, killing everything with ease (essentially no Debuff) With this mod = allies are just as weak as you now on what ever difficulty you put.(same Debuff As you)
Makes you feel better i didn't understand it either lol people who code things have different brains and are terrible at explanations lol even now that i get it I still dont understand the description. (no offense meant)
As a Coder... I have to say I frequently resemble that remark! So, I had to try to give a cogent explanation.
There are many types of levels in Skyrim, this refers to DIFFICULTY level which is a gameplay setting in the main menu. Difficulty can be set at Novice, Apprentice, Adept, Expert, Master & Legendary and can be changed at any time during your playthrough. In the Vanilla game, this setting controls the difficulty of play by modifying the damage taken by the player vs. NPCs (followers, summoned allies and foes). ( table from Difficulty | Elder Scrolls | Fandom )
Difficulty NPC Damage Taken Player Damage Taken Novice 2x 0.5x Apprentice 1.5x 0.75x Adept 1x 1x Expert 0.75x 1.5x Master 0.5x 2x Legendary 0.25x 3x
So, at Novice or Apprentice, an attack by the player will cause more damage than an identical attack from a foe (or follower). The similar attacks will cause identical damage at Adept difficulty. At Expert, Master & Legendary your foes and followers deal more damage than the player. This mod simply separates foes and followers, moving followers to the player's side of the damage ratio. Your followers & summoned allies will be blessed or afflicted with the same modifier as the player.
In practice, this mod will make followers STRONGER for Novice and Apprentice players & make followers WEAKER for Expert, Master and Legendary players. If you always play at Adept, you don't need this mod.
It's not difficulty that make the game but diversity variation and balance. NPCs have their own magic and combat system. They don't follow the same curve as the player.
Which is exactly the problem when you're talking about followers, even tho they are Npcs too they are extremely unbalanced and their damage will scale the same as enemies, which makes no sense and go against the difficulty increase the player is looking for. You, the all mighty dragonborn will be doing like 10 damage and your weak follower doing 40 damage with the same weapon and stats, the follower should be an extension to the player arsenal therefore the same buffs/debuffs should be applied
This is brilliant! You expertly solved a problem I barely knew existed. Thank you! I realized that on Legendary difficulty my followers could win major battles without me doing anything. I literally hid while they killed everyone just to see if they could. Now they get into trouble almost immediately against elite foes unless I save them, just like it should be.

Kudos for your amazing work <3 !
One question, what about compatibility with followers mod, like 'UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul'? Will there be any problems?
