This mod is the foremost authority on bread mods! It might be funny to say, but good textures go a loooooong way, and this mod is a 'must have' addition to any modded Skyrim. I used a general texture mod which covered a variety of in-game textures, including improved bread textures, but I still took the time to download and install this mod separately. I insist that this mod is above the rest in how it actually makes the bread seem believably delicious, which is important for my immersion when you consider how often this food item may appear in-game.
On a side note, Mrs. Thunderfluff, the author of this mod, is a kind and helpful mod troubleshooter. She has helped me navigate the intimidating world of mod-related programs, and with great detail and understanding for my limited experience level. She's a real gem in the community and we are lucky to have her!
Previously there was a mention of black space on the bread because of lacking vanilla/SMIM bread meshes. That definitely fixed it for me, but NPCs who use the vanilla eating animations will have that black space on their bread. It's also on INeed's eating animation for the player as well. Is there any way to fix this as I would highly prefer to use your textures and SMIM.
I suppose it could be an issue on my end considering their animations should point to the vanilla texture and mesh paths, but I don't know. I'm not too savvy with that kind of stuff. I was hoping for a little insight!
Hi! The bread mesh that NPCs hold when they eat is located at meshes\animobjects\animobjectbread.nif
I've got SMIM's animobjectbread mesh and it works fine for me, so please double-check that file location and make sure it hasn't been overwritten by something else on your setup.
Thanks so much for bringing this up so I could address it. I forgot all about that mesh!
Yep, replacing that mesh with SMIM's fixed it. I'd take an educated guess that Realistic HD Food replaced that particular mesh considering that was the last food retexture/remesh mod I used. Well, that, and it also has an animobjectbred.nif. Thank you so much for your quick help!
Question though, do you plan on doing more retextures in the future, such as food added by CACO (assuming it doesn't already use high-res textures), or ingredients, etc.? I'd love to see more from you!
Someone else requested a retexture of ETAC's foods and that's still something I'm still interested in doing. I also have a really simple 2k blanket retexture for the dwemer stone beds that's ready to upload, I just haven't gotten around to zipping it up yet. You can see that here: https://i.imgur.com/6wNWPCN.jpg
Unfortunately most of the textures I've messed around with are either modified from other people's textures or use their meshes as a base, so I don't have permission to post them because it's not all my work. For example, I actually did do a dumpling retexture too, but it uses a mesh I don't have permission to post on Nexus: https://i.imgur.com/hw1Kwtn.jpg
Anyway, I'll try to get the ball rolling on the ETAC foods soon!
I mean it could be an error on my Part, however but if not I thought I would let you know just in case it wasn't and if someone else had the same issue. I will try reinstalling the Mesh and Textures myself see if i can fix that small issue, its not a hindrance that's for sure.
Again though Thunderfluff wonderful mod it is like i can actually smell the wonderfulness of the bread, its like you can almost taste the goodness of it. Thanks again for the wonderful textures they look like the breads my grandma used to make.
Hi! Thanks so much for your kind words and for posting pictures to illustrate your problem!
Here's what's going on: You have a bread mesh installed by some other mod that doesn't use the standard texture layout, so when my textures (which are meant to be used with the default mesh) are projected onto it, it looks all messed up. They're just incompatible. Both the regular Bread and the Potato Bread use the same mesh, so that's why they're both affected.
The meshes in question (for Bread, half Bread, and Potato Bread) are located at data\meshes\clutter\food\Bread01A.nif and Bread01B.nif
Here's how to fix it: You can either delete those meshes (easiest fix) or you can install Static Mesh Improvement Mod (SMIM) and allow those bread meshes to overwrite the ones you are currently using.
SMIM can be found here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8655
The reason SMIM's bread meshes are compatible is because they're just a slight modification of the standard bread mesh rather than a complete redo like the one you're using now. I'm using SMIM in my screenshots, btw. And here is a comparison gif from their Nexus page so you can see exactly what it does to the bread vs the default mesh: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/110/images/8655-1-1330407072.gif
Hope this helps! Also, can you tell me what mod you think may have installed that mesh? I'll put a note in the description that it's not compatible. Thanks so much!
Its all good I just had to reinstall SMIM and then yours and had it overwrite it all looks normal now. Plus I got a new PC my old one was not rendering things right, it was not allowing a lot of stuff from mods to even be added to my game. But thanks so much for replying and forgive my lateness in replying myself my mother died on Nov 25th of (2019) and im all kinds of messed up. But that's neither here or there, but again thanks so much for the reply back and its like the HD foods mod by Hulk Hogan I also use it for other foods, You just have to overwrite every other file for the breads with your's is basically what I done and now it looks Absolutely fabulous thanks so much for the mod, you done well, and you give me hope of becoming a great modder myself. Kudos.
Oh no, I'm so sorry for your loss. :( I just lost a loved one too in October so I deeply understand the grief you're going through. I'm so glad you came back to let me know you got the textures working in the end, though! Enjoy and take care of yourself!
Looks like those breads are from Nernies City and Village Expansion, which I don't use, but I could look into it. I would love to retexture the ETAC stuff. I'm actually shocked it hasn't been done yet. Some of those textures are 256x256!
That would be a treat!! Thank you very much! I hope you'll keep making textures in the future. These breads are awesome. They look like golden fresh cakes when my character animates them! I re-adjusted some textures just for this!!
Oh wow! If I'm remembering correctly didn't you post a screenshot of your bread somewhere on the Skyrim Mods subreddit? It looks super familiar. In any case this looks fantastic and I'll definitely post some screenshots.
Haha yes, that was me. I didn't think I was ever going to put this on Nexus but the overwhelmingly positive response I got there convinced me to do it. Really humbling experience!
I'm just so happy if anyone wants to use this in their game. It's not perfect, but I guess it's better to release it anyway than to just sit on it forever because it's not as good as it COULD be. At a certain point I think maybe I just need to stop beating myself up and post it anyway, lol.

Take care and enjoy the bread!

For me, the culprit mesh was Realistic HD Food by HalkHogan. Hope this helps you out!
Was wondering could you make re-textures for ETaC's breads as well? Black Bread, Barley Bread etc?
