In terms of porting, can I upload this to the SSE Nexus on its own page so long as I credit you and link back here?
Not sure if the free port permissions also means uploading the port to Nexus.

I'd rather you didn't. You can link it in a comment here and I'll pin it, though.

Here's a link to the SE converted file. Tested myself in SE. https://www.mediafire.com/file/agbzfcddwo034kx/Grass_in_Whiterun_SE.7z/file

Made this for my game (though I don't use it anymore). I believe it has RW2 water records forwarded in it.

This strangely had no impact in my fps, but sadly it puts grass where it should not be (stairts, tiles) but I could live with it if at least it would put grass everywhere else... too many missing spots. Also it seems starting a bit lower than terrain, resulting in a shorted but waving from below strange grass. Maybe cause im using in SSE, but the provided port in the comments isn't better (and seems editing water also, as he states)

Anyone know what might prevent this mod from working (i.e. no grass showing up in Whiterun)? I'm using Unbelievable Grass 2 Redux for grass and checked in xEdit if anything conflicts with the edits in this mod but there are no noteworthy conflicts. Is there anything else that might make this mod not work?

      I had the same problem
For me, and it came from "Landscape Fixes For Grass Mods", even if it seams having no conflict between them (the fix doesn't even editing the interior of WhiterunWorld, only exterior)... I tried all a day long to patch them with xEdit, with no success ^^' ...

Loaded after the fix, the Whiterun grass is back, but the fix doesn't work anymore close to the exterior city (it seams to work well anywhere else anyway)... I had to choose one or the other to work here.
... I guess it may comes from the "Landscape Texture" the fix adds.

Same here. Deinstall Landcsape Fixes for Grass Mods and it works. Or just install this mod

Just found this mod today. Does not work for me alas. Have it low in the loadingorder and that is how far my knowledge goes. The adviced link connects with a hidden mod. Yellow is here to stay.

Johnny from the Cathedral project in SSE made a grass mod that uses a method of procedural placement based on grade (incline). Grass won't show up on level ground, and buildings are mostly placed on level ground, so you can get a lot done quickly. I don't know if that's possible for oldrim.

The work you put in to this mod is fantastic. It's a great looking mod.

That said, imho you went seriously ape-s#*! in the depth and placement of many grasses, roads and buildings, with the Mead hall being th most glaring.

That also said, well done and whomever this appeals to, enjoy!

You can only edit grass in Skyrim in like... maybe 3x3 foot sections, and the borders of those sections are not usually where they would be most useful. Same goes for terrain, it's a vertex-by-vertex situation, and the triangles are biiiig. You can either go too much grass or not enough. I went for too much, because I figure if you're gonna have grass, you might as well have a lot of it. If you want less grass, paint a no-grass texture in those areas.

Man, I am so happy to see this. I gave up in the middle of doing the exact same thing back in December. The terrain tool in the CK is like trying to do surgery with a rusty spoon. You're a godsend.

Nice. Is there a way to remove the grass from roads and stairs?

All I have to say is I applaud you for not scooping your eyes out with a spoon and pushing this out. Whiterun is grassless for FPS reasons, but its so unrealistic you wonder about lawn mowers.

In any case, good work. Don't scoop out your eyeballs, you need those.

Ikr, you can sense the pain, sounds like this mod was a major PITA to make, though I hear Whisky helps.

Whiskey is expensive so I go with really black tea or coffee, lots of sweetener and cream, and some good garbage-tier anime.

My eyeballs may be distressingly weak without glasses, but I would never scoop them out, I've put far too much effort into my Skyrim to never see it again. That said, I'm glad my pain can be felt across the internet, because my god can I ever feel it here. I've never found a drink that relieves the pain that I actually enjoy, but there was a lot of loud and dramatic complaining involved, and my cat got many frustration cuddles.

      What a good cate.
