Hate to be another "it doesn't work" commenter. The MCM does load, but I'm having the same issue that some other people are having: can't create outfits from MCM, showing the "must be fewer than 257 characters long" message.

Although I notice that when I hover my mouse on the esp file in MO2, it says "requires a DLL to function". What DLL is it? Am I supposed to download a separate requirement for this to work?

Hello! I just downloaded this mod because I was kinda sick of seeing the same best armor I can wear on my character for hours. Sadly, it doesn't show up in my MCM menu. I don't have DSR or any other mods mentioned in the comments that cause compatibility issues. Is there anyone out there who had this problem and managed to fix it? Thanks in advance!

    About DSR compatibility:
I'm really hoping the mod creator is still active because I think I have a solution to the DSR incompatibility issues. I've noticed that if you have DSR installed and have a weapon in your left hand there is additional items that show up when you go to 'add to outfit, from inventory'. The new items are two [unnamed] entries and adding one of them adds back in either the sheathed or unsheathed mesh respectively. The main issues with this is that you can only add one item of an identical name so you can't add both and on top of that it means that the mesh does not automatically get swapped out when the player unsheathes their weapon.
The easy solution would be to make the outfit replacer check for any armor pieces equipped to the player that are [unnamed] and then simply not replace those slots. Another more universal solution would be to allow users to select certain 'armor pieces' to white-list and never replace on any outfit.
I'm currently tying to make this fix myself but I'm new to making mods and don't really know what I'm doing. plus DSR seems too intuitive for its own good and I think it is automatically swapping the armor slot it uses if it detects that the slot is now being used by an actual armor, making it difficult to track down exactly what slot should be whitelisted for the outfit system to ignore. And furthermore because both the sheathed and unsheathed armor meshes are titled [unnamed] I haven't found a way to differentiate them.
Any advice would be great and before I forget ; Thank you OP for this amazing mod. Other than issues with DRS it works perfectly and was exactly what I was looking for :D

Although this is obviously not longer supported, I wanted to report on a small problem i ran into: when using Dual Sheath Patch, the second (left) weapon isn´t shown, when using an outfit. And you cannot add weapons to the outfit. It´s just a minor visiual issue but something like a patch would be great, maybe there is anybody that is capaple of making one.

So I have a bug, I can't create any outfits. I click on the 2 options that are there and nothing happens. After I do that, I can't click anything on mod menu. I have to unpause and go to mod menu again (and still doesn't work). I have SkyUI and SKSE

I'm completely new to modding and am literally only trying mods to change my character's armor/outfits. It looks like I've got SKSE and SkyUI installed correctly, and I'm using old Skyrim, not Special Edition. When I go to type an outfit name, I get this glitch or something that says 'can't be longer than 257 characters' and no matter what I type or do...that's it. It won't let me do anything. Can somebody please help?

I'm pleasantly surprised that I've managed to do this so far without breaking my game or crashing it or something, but I'd like to actually be able to use the mods I'm trying.

In a session where this occurs, can you open up your Papyrus log, Ctrl+F for GetOutfitNameMaxLength, and tell me if you find anything?

If you like, feel free to upload the log to Pastebin and link me to it, and then I can take a look as well.

Thank you! I did the search but I have no clue what this means, it says "[10/24/2020 - 06:17:59PM] error: Unbound native function "GetOutfitNameMaxLength" called" for the 'GetOutfitNameMaxLength' part.

Here's the log in Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/qXiuddxd

The DLL is failing to load for some reason. It should've created a log file at Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SKSE/SkyrimOutfitSystem.log. Please get that to me via Pastebin.

      There's no SkyrimOutfitSystem.log, but there's a skse text file: https://pastebin.com/A9KdCnpr

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the issue I'm having is from installing things wrong, because I installed them manually and this is my first time ever using mods.

If SkyOutSys isn't even creating a log file, then it straight-up isn't being loaded. You must be running the game through SKSE since that has a log, so this does sound like an installation issue.

You probably should be using a mod manager like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 for modding. Note that the former of the two requires special setup for SKSE support; its wiki has more information.

Yeah, I'm running it through SKSE. I'm using SKSE to launch it instead of Steam or my desktop shortcut.

I don't know how to use either of those but hopefully they're free and aren't rocket science. I guess I'll look into them (and NMM unless that's a bad idea or wouldn't work) - meanwhile, should I uninstall any of the mods and then later reinstall them using a mod manager?

The ones I've gotten through here are SKSE, SkyUI, and Outfit System. The other ones are just things I found on Steam and decided to try; I assume I don't need to do anything with the Steam ones and just need the mod manager for the other ones?

MO2 and Vortex are free. NMM is also free but is very outdated; Vortex is its official successor.

If you need any help with using them, the community has plenty of guides; GamerPoets and Gopher are YouTubers with good content for people new to modding. Tutorials for Mod Organizer will generally also work for Mod Organizer 2; the former is an outdated version, while the latter is actively maintained.

should I uninstall any of the mods and then later reinstall them using a mod manager?
You can, but for now you may just want to do that with any that aren't working -- just to see if using a mod manager actually does resolve this issue.

One of the nice things about mod managers is that when you've installed mods through them, they handle (un)installation for you. Modern ones will even keep the game files clean and store your mods elsewhere, using various tricks to get the game to look in those other places. Mods that were installed manually (or simply not cleanly) will generally be listed in the manager as "unmanaged," and AFAIK they generally won't be able to help you transfer those over.

I assume I don't need to do anything with the Steam ones and just need the mod manager for the other ones?
Steam Workshop content isn't my area of expertise... I don't think you need to do anything with the Steam ones, but I think a lot of people prefer to copy Steam Workshop files out of the game install, unsubscribe on Steam, and then reinstall the files through their mod manager. That is, when they bother to use the Steam Workshop over NexusMods at all.

I did some brief searching, but it's difficult to find information that isn't years out of date. Assuming nothing has changed about what I remember learning years ago, the main issue with Steam Workshop Skyrim mods is that you aren't in control of the files; they auto-update, and if the content is removed from the Workshop, they also auto-uninstall. If it's a scripted mod, then that can cause some issues with your existing save files. Skyrim doesn't like it when you get rid of scripted mods and then load save files that were made when those mods were installed.

Thanks! I got Vortex and ended up uninstalling, afaik, literally all of the mods so I could try to install them properly using Vortex. I got SKSE again using its own installer, then SkyUI and Outfit System through Vortex. Everything shows up properly in the SkyUI Mod Configuration tab, though I'm having the same issue trying to create/name outfits. Sorry about this crap, I'm trying ^^"

I'm digging through folders and stuff and the SKSE readme says to create a sksi.ini file? I'm trying that and seeing if works.

Edit: That, and using Vortex, apparently fixed it! Thank you!!

for some reason the "what would you like to do" side of the mod config is blank. No options.

Just a followup. I fixed it by deleting all files relating to SkyUI from my data folder (including some from Jaxon's MCM kicker) and then reinstalling SkyUI

This is the only mod of this type which worked for me. My custom armors also work with it, endorsed.
