Is there a version for Skyrim Special Edition?

This fix is included in the SE Unofficial Patch (and, the Oldrim Unofficial Patch).

I just tested this with Special Edition and it works. No port needed.

So this fixes ancient knowledge, but also nerfs it to 15% armor and 10% smithing? Is there no version that leaves the effect alone?

There are two versions on the file page, one that nerfs the effect a bit and one that leaves it alone.

This was fixed in the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, making this mod mostly obsolete.

It would be nice to mention it in the description, as this mod would only be used by those who do not want USKP.

If users still experience this issue with USKP, they should first check their load order for things that overwrite USKP's files and then apply appropriate compatibility patches.

Thanks for updating after the 1.9 patch, I'm an Unofficial Patch skeptic but I've always hated this bug. In fact, I think this is the mod I've been using the longest in all my years of playing Skyrim. Endorsed for sure.

    Hello bluedanieru,

I have a question about this fix (posted @ the UOSP about this):

My enchanted and improved (smithing) dwarven set (H+A+G+B) gives me a total armor rating of, let's say, 339 (some points in Heavy Armor, 2 in Juggernaut and 1 in Well Fitted).

Now wearing a non-enchanted and non-improved (via smithing) dwarven set (H+A+G+B) I'll get the same total armor rating of 339 displayed!

Somehow the improved dwarven set doesn't surpass the non-improved one...

Having the recent version, all UOSPs, BOSSsorted, started a new game just for 1.9 + UOSPs...

Now, it could only be me; can you or anybody else please test this? So that I see whether I'm the only one here or not...

    thanks for the fix, btw!

    ---

Edit 1: There's also a problem with the just the dwarven armor.

dwarvenArmor1: enchanted and improved. Not wearing this show me an AR of 88. Wearing it my total AR shows me 87 on the display.

dwarvenArmor2: unimproved/standard dwarven armor. Shows me 56 AR. However, wearing it alone, my total AR also goes up to 87.

Very curious for me. Or am I missing sth.?

    ---

Edit2: after reading all comments, I guess "About the weirdness with the armor ratings, yes that happens but there isn't much to be done about it." is the solution to all what I consider weird ^^. So everything's fine, I take it?

    Thanks for the effort!

Hi, I'm using your mod for a while now, you updated your description regarding the latest patch and apparently we still need your mod to fix the bug, what's your advise: keep the mod or not ? Is there compatibility issues with Bethesda patch ? Thanks !

If you use the Unofficial Patch and you don't want my 'balanced' version, you don't need this. If you don't use the Unofficial Patch then you need this. If you use the Unofficial Patch but want my balanced version, load it after USKP - they are compatible.

Note that the 'fix' provided by Bethesda in 1.9 actually breaks the perk *more* than before.

This game is a mess and a bug-fest! Thank you for the quick fix...

USKP 1.3.1 will add a fix for this bug too.

Yes really the only reason you should use this is if you want the balanced version (which is completely compatible with USKP btw). The regular version I put here for the sole purpose of having Arthmoor put it in USKP :-)

Or if you don't want to use the USKP. I appreciate the availability of this mod independent of the USKP.

Btw Maeldun0 it works on the armor pieces individually now, not the full set (USKP, this fix, vanilla as well although it's broken).

It would be pretty messed up. The smithing part is done in the script by just doing a flat mod to the skill, so you'd definitely miss out on that. I think you might still get the 25% bonus (now to ALL armor), but it wouldn't show in your active effects. It might be the other way around though, that you'd get it listed in the active effects, but wouldn't get any bonus at all - it's been a while since I looked at the vanilla implementation of this.

If you want to uninstall it and go with the vanilla behavior, you'll need to do some messing about in the console, that's certain.

That makes sense, and I agree that you made the clear decision. Requiring a full set to receive the bonus is far better than the bonus being applied to non-dwarven armor.

What does happen if you remove this mod after receiving Ancient Knowledge? Aside from the usual bad stuff that happens when you remove mods, of course...does the default version of the perk get applied, or are you left with nothing?
