Hello! Shameless plug here, please do bear with me. Many years ago, my Dad produced a comedy animated television show called The Treacle People. I grew up watching it, and it's probably where my silly sense of humour comes from! Now, I'm helping bring the show to YouTube, where we'll be releasing newly remastered episodes every Saturday at 5PM UK time! I've also made and voiced a trailer, linked above! Please do consider supporting me by subscribing - much like Lucien, this a real labour of love, and it'd mean the world to me if we could make it into a success.
I wish I could endorse this more than once. The character is so strange and different from any kind of follower I've ever had in any game. Most people/characters I'm drawn to have le tragic backstory TM. I didn't have the best life, and I feel I naturally gravitate to characters that struggle with similar or worse situations, who want to be 'good' but find it hard to or struggle to be able to define what good really is or isn't. Typically, I find that people both IRL and in stories/games that have been "spoiled rotten" or had loving families are intolerable either because they're ungrateful pricks or are annoyingly naive to the point of being exasperating. This little guy is so amusing, though. He owns up to being spoiled rotten, speaks of his family members with affection, recognizes and appreciates how fortunate he was, owns up to being a newb and expresses desire to improve while joking about his own failings but not in too much of a jestery way.... I don't know, he's just the comic relief I didn't know I needed. I'm not typically fond of comic reliefs. Bless this chap. 🙏🏻
Hey, REALLY loving Lucien so far--been using him for a couple weeks on a playthrough as a grizzled old Nord warrior, and having a sort of protege to show how to hit stuff really hard is great. His voice-acting is fantastic and his commentary has had me laughing out loud quite a few times. It actually gives a feeling of pride/progression in-character to see him getting better, and to hear his dialogue gradually change from fearful to confident. So, thanks very much for putting this mod out there!
I have had one issue: I finally started his quest, and I'm at the point in Oblivion Engine where the objective is "Activate the First Switch." Doing so opens the door, but doesn't progress the quest, and Lucien no longer follows. I've found that using the "setstage JRLucienPersonal1 105" I think it was, and then--after pressing the second--110, progresses the quest. He mentions hearing "that voice again" but it never triggered for me before that. Once I got downstairs to the "engine" bit, it progressed normally. (Including the commands in case anyone else has this problem)
I've been using Lucien for years and I genuinely can't imagine Skyrim without him! Thank you so much for not forgetting about those of us who are still stuck with LE <3 do you have any plans to add a patch for the Clockwork mod or to add a romance option? Asking for a friend o.o
Lucien is one of my must have mods. I love the idea that he grows as a person just like my character does, we can adventure together! He's like an actual character who likes things and has opinions. One of these days I'm gonna take him through AHO so he gets to see more dwemertech. Though since he's so much more fleshed out than any base game companions, just to check, does lucien have any problems with vampirism? If my character turns into a vampire and starts sneaking into people's houses to bite them, will he freak out or anything?
Well it seems your still to stupid to get on a horse, so i will leave you out again ..., Hey, This Is the GOAT of a follower mod love it wish you would just come with your own horse. It's wonderful to have you by my side, to go through Skyrim with.
A unique horse-riding system, unlocked by completing Lucien's personal quests.
Lucien comes with his own mount, acquired after a second sojourn into the mysterious inner workings of Dumzbthar. There is some level padding there, given the location and difficulty of Dumzbthar, however that should be expected of an adventure with a silly lad like Lucien. Be patient! Good things come to those who wait!
i don't want to stress you, but you should try some compatibility with triumvirate! the spells are pretty cool with their abilities, and it'd be neat to see Lucien learning them! imagine Lucien turning people into plants :P
I thought that too but Triumvirate is focused on specific roleplay buildings. Though i would love to see a Druid Lucien in Falkreath. And maybe like some triggerable "Class" type in the MCM menu/via dialogues. Something like "I want you to "act like"/"change your class to" "Druid". "A Druid? Fancy flowery and smelly trees? mÀ?Áravellous. I'll be a beautiful Speiggan just for you". But honestly i'm so much praying Magnus that Joseph will add Odin spells first, i'm so hyped for that mod :D. Collecting and teach him magic tomes is one of the excellency of Lucien
Late reply, but checking Lucien's website to see which spells he supports, the only one from apocalypse found in odin is soul cloak. This means that Lucien would need to be given support for new spells if odin support was added.
Hey Joseph, first off, just gotta say that Lucien is an absolutely fantastic follower. Having him and Inigo always make my playthrough's feel so lively no matter how many times I go through it all. An essential follower to have for any playthrough.
That being said, I've got a bit of a bug on my end (likely a bug because I'm not sure exactly what else it could be). You note on your site that Lucien doesn't need a patch for apocalypse magic spells mod, and that he'll recognize that the spells are there to learn. well, I've got a spell that he SHOULD be able to learn at his level, several in fact, but I don't see an option pop up in his training menu to actually train him in any of the apocalypse spells. Apologies if this seems like some random thing, but what do you think might be the cause here? For context, I am running him on the legendary edition using both Apocalypse and Odin.
Thank you so much! Do you have a copy of the relevant spell tome in your inventory, and have you made absolutely sure that his skill level in the relevant magic school is high enough?
Yes, I would always keep the tome on me if ever I intend to teach it to him, otherwise, I have it stored away in a chest. What's more, I have a mod for a spell that allows me to check his skill levels actively, I kind of RP it as my character using magic to divine a follower's strengths, and make sure all appropriate skill levels are available as per the listing on your page. I find that last bit particularly strange, as the tomes that I'd tried to teach Lucien from apocalypse so far have been ones that your website states require no skill level to learn for him (Avenging Wraith and Wild Healing, which are both listed on your site at '0').
NVM, found the issue. Apparently the nexus version of Lucien does not play well with the steam version of Apocalypse spells, so I had to download the nexus version of apocalypse and it seems to work now. Apologies for the time wasted.
Lucien is a MUST for any playthrough! I absolutely adore him and I downloaded the "Glad You're Here" mod JUST TO GIVE MY BOY A HUG!! He is so sweet, the perfect bestie for any dragonborn :) When LE gets updated I'm going to be first in line to get his new content. Thank you so much for the care and talent put into this mod!

I've been looking all over to no avail...
PS: Mayhaps I've found it... in Blue Fire Magic.
