Just finished my playthrough of your mod, and I can assure you that I really enjoyed it. I downloaded the version with markers, but left the quest inactive most of the time, which basically had the same effect. Just at the end I got lazy. ^^

Anyway, it was a rewarding experience and a welcome opportunity to travel the world again. And you put a lot of effort in creating a good background story with a nice touch of humour.

Thank you for creating this quest. Endorsed!

Question, why can't I remove the items from my inventory AFTER the quest is completed? I cannot remove anything tied to this quest EXCEPT the Ancient Falmer Crown. The Notes, Letters, Journals are all "stuck" in my inventory.

It fits right at home in Skyrim yet still manages to be a very fun, unique little side quest, and much more charming than any vanilla content, in my opinion. So much so that I resurrected this dead ass account to leave a comment lol. Really enjoyed my experience, thank you for sharing your creativity!

Hello, my Journal says to go to Windhelm, but there is no Reginald letter with anyone in Candlehearth Hall. Not with the innkeeper, not with anyone else within the inn. Nor is it laying around somewhere. It doesn't exist. Several in-game days have passed.

Please let me know what are all the progressive setstage numbers, as I may have to force the story forward. Thanks!

Bummer...I could not get this to work for me. I tried it with both downloads separately but alas no difference. Thanks for putting it out there. I see it worked for some.

Hey, not sure if anyone still follows this mod or cares, but I'll throw in my two cents of testing, so someone more versed might offer a solution to the whole "can't progress, no letters" problem.
I've narrowed it down to two things breaking this quest- either completing or being far enough along vanilla Thieves Guild questline (seems unlikely, but that's one common thread I've found) or this quest not working with higher level characters.

    Testing: I have 4 characters.
My OG level 73 that's done just about everything and stopped just short of returning Skeleton Key. Quest does not appear. I can force progress it with setstage and adding the letters to myself but when I get to the first location for picking the first treasure, it's not there in the world. I can keep using console commands to give myself the things, but at that point it's a walk and cmd prompt simulator so what's the point?
Level 50 dedicated thief- completed the Thieves Guild only and misc things like clearing random caves. Same as above. Shame because this is who I downloaded this mod for.
Level 20something Imperial- made for Civil War storyline only, did a few side quests, that's about it. Courier immediately found me, innkeepers have the dialog options for the letters, quest progresses as normal in other words.
Joke level 1 character, absolutely nothing started- as soon as I stepped out of the inn, the courier found me, gave me the letter. I progressed to the first clue and there it was, exactly where the 1st clue letter said it would be.

So two characters work, two don't. The working characters are low level and never touched the Thieves Guild, the higher level characters have progressed the Thieves Guild to completion or near completion. No other commonalities to note.

    My manual progression of objectives:
Typing help titk gave me the dialog options which I could force through with say [id] while in conversation with the innkeepers. This would clear the current objective but not add the letter to my inventory. Guessing the letter name and confirming with help then adding with player.additem would give me the letter but reading it would not advance the quest. Manually advancing the quest would do what it says on the tin but ultimately the first treasure just wasn't where it was supposed to in the world. At that point I gave up.
So if the quest works, it just works, if it doesn't it never will. Unless someone more pro at mods can use what I've typed here and figure out why.

And speaking of mods, I don't believe the many mods I have installed are a factor here because nothing about the load order changed between character swap and the characters that don't work have no mods they are actively using in common (like modded weapons, spells, or armor).

Can confirm, have the same problem, my character is level 92, completed thiefs faction quests and all ther is to complete for the other factions, main game etc....
Courier just not shows up, even after waiting, fast travelling, horseriding....
Oh well, let's start another one in the meanwhile....

Hey, so, I've been trying to play this mod, but..the courier never shows up. Also, the workaround doesn't..well..work. I want to know, is there any requirements for the courier to show up?

Like, maybe the player needs to be in a certain level for the courier to come? Or maybe the player needs to belong to the Thieves Guild? Is there anything like that??

Hey there! I really want to play your mod, but i just cant. Really, i've tried everything except completely disabling all my mods because i have no clue, which of them brakes yours. (In fact i did it now, but all that I've achieved, is a game crash when saving or leaving the building) Actually, none of them, in my opinion, interrupts the courier, but something isn't right. So, in conclusion, maybe it's really something wrong with the mod7 Cause I'm not the first one with the problem. And yes, I've tried stage skip as well and it doesn't work either. It tells me to pick up a letter in Windhelm, but innkeper has no such line
P.S. Tried theversion with markers. Same thing, no progress

This is a nice treasure hunt quest mod - well written and relaxing.
I also appreciate a "no quest marker" version being made available - the instructions in the notes were indeed clear enough such that there was no frustration involved in searching for the items without a quest marker.
    Endorsed.

There were some minor issues though:
The first hidden item was impossible to activate for me (even after using the "tcl" command). After reloading from an earlier save two times, and trying again, it worked ok. There seems to be some randomness to it - sometimes I could activate it, sometimes not. Sometimes it was also in a slightly different place. The 4th item was also a bit hard to activate but not as bad as the first.
Perhaps the positioning of some items could be tweaked a bit, or maybe have their physics disabled, or even placed in a static container? (like a potato sack)

One other minor issue I noticed was that the water near the 5th item had a dirty edit from this mod which was overwriting my "realistic water two" mod's changes.
