Never had this happen, and I've had plenty of encounters with the beacon, most of which don't end up going to the temple. I just let it rot in my inventory for entire playthroughs.
Does this actually happen? I've carried the beacon around for entire play throughs sometimes and never had anything like this happen. Are you sure there isn't some overhaul mod that actually causes this to happen?
When making this, I saw the lines of code in the vanilla scripts that call for this behavior. Seems not to happen to everyone though, so I really don't know. The way the script is set up, I'd expect a lot more people to have this issue.
In a word, yes. I always forget the brilliant way the Creation Kit handles script editing. I''ll fix this when I get the chance. Thanks for alerting me to this.
This personally hasn't happened to me but I am aware of that possibility of Meridia getting impatient and having you find the beacon again in a different location. I guess I'm not surprised other people weren't aware of this but yes, it's a thing. She even scolds you for taking too long.
This mod's not for me but I'm always glad to see Meridia-related mods.
This isn't even a thing. It doesn't automatically remove if you pick it up and respawn in another chest it's a quest item and they cannot be removed from inventory.
It is most certainly "a thing"; just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean it never does. It hasn't happened to me in quite some time, which makes me think either USKP/USLEEP fixed it or else it's just that rare.
If you have the item in your inventory and head to a dungeon with a boss chest, the beacon can be removed from your inventory and essentially teleported into that boss chest, at which point, if you take it back, Meridia scolds you because The Great Bug God of Bethesda Softworks took it from you and that's your fault, somehow. Also what universe do you live in where bugs just don't exist or else strictly adhere to rules and limitations placed on the player character? C'mon, son.
I'm not sure why anyone would want to keep that thing, it looks like a wasp nest that was completely filled in with cement, but I guess that's the beauty of modding. If nothing else, it'll make obsessive collectors and kleptomaniacs very happy. :)
