Incidentally, I remember some old tips from my D&ing days that always helped with naming characters, like utilizing last names as first names, rearranging a few letters like an anagram, or like you said, throwing in some hard consonants. I will say, however, that even common names for us were still applicable back then. Like Thomas or William. Fantasy settings, however, seem to frown heavily on that, regardless.

IrishAndroid - Yar, fair enough. She's actually one of several persistent characters I drag around in just about every game I play. It did stand out to me while I was debating the issue that in Skyrim even individuals with similar-to-contemporary names have had them modified in some way to make them more fantasy-esque/foreign sounding (e.g., 'Adrianne,' 'Erikur,' etc.). In the end, I decided to preserve her original name because it's easy enough to jump into 'showracemenu' and alter it to something you like better. 'Mina Claresi' was what I had in mind for a fantasy mutation.
