SCI: Scrolls cast instantly - without charge-up time. You will no longer be swarmed while waiting for a ridiculous charging animation to finish. SCI: Scrolls cast instantly - without charge-up time. You will no longer be swarmed while waiting for a ridiculous charging animation to finish. Casting goes off immediately after activation (a single mouse click or hotkey). 

This is a repair job on an old mod by SIDWULF to make it work with Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch (USLEP or USLeEP), and to fix some actual errors in it.

Fixes
=====

* No longer depends on old Unofficial Skrim Patch (USKP) and Unofficial Dawnguard Patch (etc.) files, and instead uses Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch as a master.
* Fixes several instances of outright corrupt data in the original. These would have caused a CTD for sure.
* Fixes several instances of invalid references (to MGEFs present in the old USKP but non-existent in the USLEP). These fairly likely would have caused a CTD or at least a malfunctional spell.
* Preserves fixes applied by USLEP but which were not present in USKP and thus never implemented in the original SCI mod.
* Fixes the masters order to match LOOT load order.
* Removes 70+ ITM errors (identical-to-master records).
* Checked repeatedly with Wrye Bash for any errors, ITMs, UDRs, and other problems.
* Trivia: Fixes two "Foo Of The Bar" spell names to "Foo of the Bar" to match the rest of the orthography in the game (and normal English usage with regard to proper names and the lower-casing of short prepositions and the definite article in mid-name). There may be a few other instances of overcapitalization; I just fixed the ones I happened to notice.

Known Issues
============

1) The mod appears to change way more than scroll-fired spells, including various item-activated ones, some regular spells, and some powers. A cursory examination suggests that nothing is changed other than short to zero casting time, though I did not pore over every single line.  This was the original author's doing and intent; I have not playtested this extensively to see what effects this has on game balance.  I just created this patched-up version so I could use it in the first place, since the original does not work properly with USLEP.

But I think we're all pretty tired of how slow spellcasting is in this game.  Slow scroll and gear enchantments make no sense anyway; the entire point of them is that they're stored-up, fire-and-forget magic and are not dependent on the abilities of the caster.  In the vanilla game, the delays caused by slow scrolls and such can often be fatal, and make such enchantments borderline useless.  The slowness is also inconsistent with the previous TES games.

So, I'm not going to consider this a bug, though the mod may not be accurately named, and perhaps should be either renamed, or split into a scrolls-only version and this broader one.  There may already be other mods doing these things. 

2) I'm unaware of any way to "detect" that an actual scroll is what is triggering the magic, thus there is no way to account for mod-added scrolls with new magic in them, or to make the same spell take a while to cast if not cast from a scroll, as far as I know.

Requirements and Compatibility
==============================

* All three DLCs are required (Dawnguard, Hearthfires, Dragonborn).
* Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch (USLEP).
* Anything USLEP requires (probably just Update.esm, and a recent version of Skryim with the official patches applied).
* If you use Immersive Sounds, you'll need the compatibility patch for it in the Optional Files section, or some sounds will revert to the vanilla ones.

This should be compatible with everything (in a USLEP game), other than modifications to spell-casting times on the same spells. In case of such a conflict, whichever mod loaded later will "win".

Installation and Uninstallation
===============================

To install, just put the ESP in your Data folder (manually or with your preferred mod manager).  You may even be able to merge it into your Bashed Patch with Wrye Bash.

To uninstall, just remove the ESP (and rebuild your Bashed Patch).  Because this mod adds nothing in game and is running no scripts, it is safe to remove it in mid-game; it cannot corrupt your savegame.

If you are using Immersive Sounds, the load order should be IS, then SCI. Install the IS/SCI patch (which is a separate download) last; it's just an ESP replacer for SCI.
