    Changelog 1.02:
Fixed: Upgraded items at workbench/grindstone no longer lose their upgrades.

Since no one else has reported any other bug and I did not find any myself, I also released this mod on Skyrim Special Edition as .esl

    Changelog 1.01:
Fixed: Items no longer increase their quantities if you store more than one of the same not enchanted weapon/armor.
Fixed: Items stored after not enchanted weapons/armors are no longer lost
Fixed: Quantities no longer overflow and alter other items in the same list (I thought arrows could be enchanted when In fact, they cannot)

Note: Make sure to take all the items off the chest (Default key: R) at least once before or after updating, or alternatively delete "EDS.json" (found in: "SKSE/Plugins/StorageUtilData").

Dont know if anyone else has ran into this, but i found out that i cant send potions i created through the chest. They immediately disappear, but any other potion seems fine (i didnt try poisons that i created, but im assuming its the same result since they're still player created potions).

This isnt the worst problem, cus there's ways to circumvent this (the command menu), but i thought i should bring it to light.

Besides that this mod is great tho. I tried to get skybox working for the longest, cus i needed to share stuff between 4 characters but that mod was very wonky. Only for this mod to be my saving grace. Thanks so much for this.

There's some weirdness going on with some of the deposited items. Enchanted gear gets their enchantments shuffled around in order. Hardly a bother, but it's there.

What's an actual problem is if the equipment has been tempered before. The improvement level, as in the "(Epic)", "(Superior)", "(Legendary)" suffixes are treated by the mod as part of the item's name, and then they come out doubled when taken out. So now I have a "Dawnbreaker (Legendary) (Legendary) (Legendary) (Legendary) (Legendary) (Legendary)" with me...!

What's there to do to stop this from happening?

Should be easily fixable with a text editor by editing the resulting EDS.json, though of course it shouldn't be doing this in the first place.

Many thanks for the tip. Changed the .json to a .txt, manually removed the suffixes, changed it back again to a .json, the duplicates are gone in-game, they work properly, and I'm happy now

This is a very intriguing concept and definitely something I am going to try out. Could or should this be tagged as a cheat mod? Possibly, probably. But there are much easier ways to cheat at gaining items your character hasn't found and unlike any of those, you actually have to had played the game and found said item. I myself will use the extra dimensional storage to save some stuff form an alternate version of the character I'm playing right now. The original version had an unfortunately broken mod (due to misinformation about mod compatibility with another mod), that ment I had to replay and loose all my progress with it, as the saves themselves held the corruption and no amount of fiddling helped. Now I'll be able to send gifts to my current alternate from her less fortunate version. Also, it is nice that you have thought of a background story for this new power, rather then just sticking it in the game with a "it came from somewhere, deal with it" attitude, that sends roleplaying out the window without even a "sorry" thrown the player's way.

One question though, how safe is it to send player enchanted items? Or items that likewise don't have a base from, but rather were created in the game? Don't want to corrupt another game.

Thanks for this interesting idea of a mod!

      Hello,
You can definitively cheat with this mod and easily duplicate items, however, the only ways to prevent such misuse would limitate everyone, and those that are looking to cheat will find a way anyways, so I have decided to let players do whatever they want but, at its core, it is a roleplaying tool (hence why the background story).

Player enchanted items or any enchanted item are safe to send (the Soul Hunter bow in the images is a player enchanted weapon).
The game will not be corrupted as it cleans on load and save but you will lose items if you try to send a mod item to a character that does not have that mod installed.
You can backup your items by backing up "SKSE/Plugins/StorageUtilData/EDS.json" at anytime if you worry about accessing the storage with a character that does not have all the item mods installed by mistake (Even if, in general, it should not be used as a permanent storage but simply as a transfer storage).

It is also vital that you install the requirements for the mod to work properly.

If you're a heavy and experimental modder, the main use for this is going to be "recovering" a broken game. There are tools for exporting your head, dumping lists of stats and quest statuses, etc., but we've lacked a reliable way to replicate all the custom gear. Just in the last year alone, I've had to abandon something like 5 playthroughs because some mod or other effectively destroyed it with runaway scripts and other uckfups. I get so very, very tired of redoing the same beginner quests, re-upping my smithing skill and recruiting my huge harem pool of followers, and upgrading their gear, working up an enchanting suit and re-doing all my enchantments, etc., etc. It's just days, even weeks, of repetitive grinding, and I can hopefully just skip it now.

Nice mod, endorsed and voted. Have one question though, is it compatible with Skybox?

My guess is that it should be but I am not sure as I have never tried.

Skybox is badly broken anyway, as is the other JContainers-based alternative, MetaChest. I pray to all the gods of Tamriel that this one works properly.

Any easier way to use this mod? I just want to transfer all my good stuff to a brand-new char but if I try to delete the current save(s) beforehand, the storage is empty on my new char (also wish there was a way to manually save since I'm not one of the OCD people who have all the auto-saves turned on as well as making a brand-new save every 10 minutes manually).

Don't bother with this one, it only recognizes the first item you put in it

Thanks you for this Excellent idea. Simple concept but a lot of work went into this and It's much appreciated. Only suggestion I can think of would be to allow the contents to be removed as a duplicate so that, when my second character removes an item. It is not lost to my third character. If you follow my thinking. Anyway, more than delighted with this as makes life easier imo. Thank you again, excellent.

You can already do that, albeit manually, by making a duplicate of "SKSE/Plugins/StorageUtilData/EDS.json", simply store the items you want, make a backup of the file, take them in your second character, restore the backup, and take the same very items in the third character as well.

I cannot do that in game because it would require me to store "sets" of items, and while it wouldn't be so bad (even with 10 enchanted items, the file doesn't go above 1kb) it would defeat the purpose of this mod (it would become a cheating mod rather than a roleplay tool to connect multiple characters of yours).

Still, if you are willing to do some manual editing, not only you can have various backups of a set of items you want to give to your characters but also change the name of your enchanted items or even tweak their enchantments (such as their duaration or charge) by opening "EDS.json" in a text editor.

To be honest, I had thought of backing up the json files but I've come up with a work around for me anyways. I made a batch file to duplicate all items in the chest to the player. Works very well. Saves me coming out of game to. Anyhow, Thanks for the mod again. Handy for keeping records of players inventory as well. The enchantment tweaking idea is a good one, I didnt think of that lol. I only mod for myself these days but need ot set up characters quick for testing so it's a valuable tool for me. Many thanks. :)
