   That's how you get around the grey face bug? I tried when I was making a few NPCs and nothing worked.

      I had to hold CTRL and press G. Here's how you must do. Hold Ctrl then press G of your custom or original NPCs. If it were a gray face bug after editing, hold Ctrl then press G again in Creation Kit.
      
      It is as follows
      Textures & Meshes:
      Actors/Character/Facegendata/
      Facegeom (Meshes) & Facetint (Textures)
      Skyrim.ESM, *[Your Own Mod] and/or *[Your Own Mod].esp
      
      OPTIONAL:
      
      Have Archive from CK to create BSA.
