Version 2.0 available !

Note to players updating from version 1.0 :

If you were using the Standard Version, some items (water bottles & alcoholic drinks) may disappear from your inventory when doing the update.
It is a normal process due to a change in the structure ! Take care to the new load order !

- If you're using Mod Organiser or NMM, REPLACE (DO NOT merge) the old version of "Melting Pot of Milk Mods" with this new version.
- If you've installed MPMM files manually, go to Data and delete the MPMM.esp. Next, delete any file starting with "mpmm" in Data\Scripts and in
Data\Scripts\Source. Then follow the new install instructions.

Changelog :

- You can now milk goats !
- The milking spell has a calm effect that last 30 sec.
- Farmers Sell Produce was added to the list of included mods. Farmers also sell milk.
- Cow Calves in Skyrim and Drinking Fountains of Skyrim were added to the list of optional mods. Calves can't be milked, and fountains provide
the shared resource "Water".

- Adds two dishes based on a book of "The Gourmet". You can obtain their recipes when accomplishing one of the new quests.
- Adds two cows in Skyrim world.
- Built-in support for Frostfall : teas and soups now improve your warmth.
- Built-in support for INeed : all foods and drinks are now detected correctly by INeed, and you can use INeed waterskins into MPMM recipes.
- Cows and goats won't drop milk anymore (to avoid conflicts with other mods)
- Corrects a glitch that was allowing players to reset the "recovery timer" on cows when using fast travel.
- Corrects a bug when dual-casting the milking spell
- Changes in the Standard Version structure. Please take care to the new load order.
- This version comes with BSA files and a FOMOD. No more loose files, and an easy install process.

Features

This mod was created to overhaul milk-based products and milking features in Skyrim !
It gives you the ability to milk cows and goats, thus obtaining milk bottles that can be used into recipes provided by other mods.

Non-exhaustive list of features :
- Milking : After accomplishing a quest, you obtain an illusion spell that allows you to calm cows and goats and to milk them (cf. Detailed description)
- Shared milk/water bottles : All supported mods use the same milk and the same water in their recipes, no more mod-specific item !
- Merged mods : Included mods sometimes provide similar foods, resulting in duplicates. This mod merges them into a single item !
- Optional mods re-design : Some mods are optional, they have been re-designed for MPMM and greatly improve immersion.
- Balancing : Recipes, items values and items effects have been modified to make them coherent and balanced
- Visual improvements : Change meshes and textures for "Drinks for the Thirsty" drinks and ingredients
- Enhanced support for Frostfall and INeed (not required) : Hot drinks improve your warmth, and waterskins are usable into MPMM recipes. Native.

Included mods :
Be a Milk Drinker, by CaptainRC => Vanilla Version
Drinks for the Thirsty, by Karsciyin => Standard Version (Green Pact drinks are included)
Farmers Sell Produce, by rajti15 => Latest version

Optional mods :
Cow Calves in Skyrim, by Greyfox77 => Latest version
Drinking Fountains of Skyrim, by mannygt => Latest version

Detailed description - Included mods

Melting Pot of Milk Mods :
- Adds the illusion spell "Milking". Use it on a cow/goat to milk it, this will cost you a little amount of mana and you won't gain any experience.
- Cows and goats won't provide you an infinite amount of milk. There's a chance, when you encounter a cow/goat for the first time, that it didn't calve recently : you won't be able to milk it. Its status is reset 5 days later. If it did calve recently, you can milk it, but the more you do, the less likely you are to obtain milk. When the cow/goat is out of milk, it will rest for 24h, and you'll be able to milk it again past this delay.
- Goats drop less milk bottle than cows.
- Adds two quests (one to obtain the milking spell, the other one to obtain recipes)
- Adds Sigaar"s Sunlight Souffle, and Sigaar's Potage, dishes based on a book written by "The Gourmet"
- Adds two cows in Skyrim worldspace

Be a Milk Drinker :
- Adds a lot of non-alcoholic drinks (juices), that can be bought or crafted. Juices have special effects and unique visuals
- Adds water bottles that can be bought
- Adds milk bottles all over Skyrim ! It can be bought or simply found in houses. Milk becomes a real part of citizen life.
- Adds cheese recipes, based on milk

Drinks for the Thirsty :
- Adds non-alcoholic drinks (teas) that can be bought or crafted
- Adds alcoholic drinks for those who observe the Green Pact (drinks only based on milk and/or meat) that can be bought or crafted
- Velvet LeChance, White-Gold Tower, Cliff Racer, and Cyrodilic Brandy are marked as Food, and no more as Potion.

Farmers Sell Produce:
- Farmers sell their own produce (milk, eggs, wheat, leek, cabbage, etc.)
- Farmers can also buy food.

I made a lot of modifications to these mods (drinks values, drinks effects, recipes, merchants sell lists, etc.) in a balancing purpose !
I will write a detailed list of modifications on the forum, in a few days.

Detailed description - Optional mods

Cow Calves in Skyrim:
- Adds cute calves next to cows !
- Calves can't be milked.

Drinking Fountains of Skyrim:
- Adds fountains all over Skyrim, that provide you water bottles.

How to learn milking ?

There's a lonely cow in Whiterun ... If you search a little bit around her, you might find a clue ...
If you're not interested in RP, check the forum, I'll write the walkthrough (I don't want to spoil it :p).

Requirements

  • Skyrim.esm
  • Update.esm

And that's all. You don't have to download the original mods to use Melting Pot of Milk Mods, I included and modified their files into my mod. You don't need  DLCs either.

Versions

There are two versions of this mod, choose among them and download the corresponding archive.

1) MPMM - Standalone : Choose this version if you don't already have "Be a Milk Drinker", "Drinks for the Thirsty", or "Farmers Sell Produce".

2) MPMM - Standard : Choose this version if you already have "Be a Milk Drinker", "Drinks for the Thirsty", or "Farmers Sell Produce". Let my files override the original ones.

Install

Install with NMM or Mod Organizer 2 (recommended) : Download the archive. Upload the archive through the software, and follow the FOMOD instructions.

Manual Install : Not recommended ! Using NMM or MO2 would greatly ease the uninstall process. But if you insist ...
Copy-paste all files from the "Main Files" folder into the Data folder of Skyrim. If you're using the Standard Version, also copy-paste MPMM Patches.esp (in folder "Patches") into the Data folder. Copy-paste any optional mod you would like to add, and its .bsa (from the "Optional Mods" folder, to the Data folder).

Load order

Load order of optional mods doesn't matter.

Standalone version : Load order doesn't matter.

Standard version : Please keep MPMM_MeltingPotMilkMods.esp BEFORE any other mod included in MPMM (it is marked as a master file on purpose).
Load MPMM Patches.esp AFTER any mod included in MPMM. Here is an example of a good load order :

MPMM_MeltingPotMilkMods.esp

Milk.esp
DftT.esp
Farmers Sell Produce - Skyrim.esp
MPMM Patches.esp

Uninstall

Optional mods (Cow Calves of Skyrim, Drinking Fountains of Skyrim) are independent from the core MPMM files.
They dynamically detect if MPMM is installed. Basically, you can uninstall MPMM and continue using these optional mods, they will still work properly.

Included mods all depend on MPMM.esp. If you want to uninstall MPMM, you will have to uninstall these plugins too (else you will have errors on game start).

Compatibility

This mod is compatible with mods that :
- modify cows or goats in any way
- modify food in any way
- modify / add cooking recipes
- modify the cooking feature

This mod is not compatible with mods that :
- change the selling list of innkeepers and/or apothecaries
- change Leveled Item Lists relative to food (please use Wrye Bash)

This mod has minor conflicts with mods that :
- modify Velvet LeChance, White-Gold Tower, Cliff Racer, or Cyrodilic Brandy (If my mod is loaded before, they may stay marked as potion - not as food)
- modify Gourd (If my mod is loaded before, you may not be able to sell gourds to farmers)

Recommended mods

These two mods will greatly improve visual quality of drinks, for a better immersion !
Firstly, quilb's Retextures for Be a milk drinker. Improves greatly juices and milk bottles textures.
Secondly, Narmix's Silly Level of Detail - Wine Cellar. Incredibly detailed textures for alcohol bottles.

Work In Progress

  • Include other mods ?
