as I do still play LE over SE, (an some mods I have are kinda old (not as old as THIS ONE) this has potential for one of my character's playstyle, though yea would wish it was update (and or in SE)
also lookin for a mod that makes it- so the 3 heroes in sovngarde would actually strike the killing blow on alduin so you CAN truely beat the game(main quest) without killing ANYONE and as a pacifist!

Please make a Special Edition version. I want my special edition pacifist to pickpocket a falmer for the college questline.

(meanwhile i guess I'll start a new one on OG skyrim to try this out)

Also Under Saarthal actually has a pacifist-friendly way of going about it. Just bait the draugr boss into the poison traps from the previous room and just cast double handed healing while the poison PAINFULLY SLOWLY takes him down.

EDIT: Turns out the mage quest line isnt fully pacified. The quest that takes place in Mzulft: You should be able to pickpocket the falmer with the crystal on it. Now my only hope is furying the falmer, and I'm not sure if that'll score a kill.

the same way can be done with the boss in Bleak Falls Barrows, you kite the Draugr back to the room with the swinging axes, and he will run into them and get cut to pieces ((you may have to use illusion spells like frenzy on it(it has no effect on him but it WILL keep his aggro on you)

"Add a method to obtain dragon souls without killing dragons"

How do you do that? Not in a mod term, but in a realistic term? how do you take the soul of something without killing it? Plus, the only way a dragon is/can be killed is by absorbing their souls...
How can you not kill dragons but still gain their souls? How? Just how?

Guys I think I can safely say this mod is D E D.

If anyone wants to remake this mod, please do because I'm pretty sure that after all this time, the original author isn't coming back.

Or if anyone wants to give advice on how to make a mod like this, that'd also be good. Personally, I don't have any qualms about destroying the undead, daedra or automatons but I like playing a character who doesn't want to kill people, because y'know, most people don't. It helps with immersion. I also use Skyrim Unbound so it'd be nice if the author of the successor mod would keep alternate start mods in mind.

Can you just add a way to spare Alduin?

    @Annakini:

In the mainquest it's possible to "learn" from the greybeards as in receiving essentially the same benefit a dragon soul gives (you learn the second word of unrelenting force as well as the first word of whirlwind sprint). This means you could, technically, make the same work with dragons meaning you just get them to a point where they "share their knowledge" with you rather than you killing the dragon.

From a lore / realism perspective this is certainly possible - question is how you'd mod it into the game.

Edit: using the passive dragons mod myself I kinda hope the author returns (or maybe someone else picks it up) and makes this into a full, fleshed out mod.

I don't know if the other parts of this mod are still functional, but the pickpocketing draugr was not. I edited the file (for myself) to make all draugrs pick-pocketable, and it worked again. I also edited the weight of the Dragon Stone. With only 1 point in pickpocketing, and no skill increases it was too heavy to successfully pickpocket. I don't know what a better weight would be, but set at zero that made the chance 47%. I think that is reasonable considering previous TES games quest items have had 0 weight, and since this is a starting quest, it should not be too hard to pickpocket. My sneak was mid 30s and draugrs don't appear to have any sneak skill or pickpocket skill.

is this mod still functional with all the updates and such? I love the idea but if it'll break a modern game...

Okay, first let me state that I do endorse this mod. Obviously, since I said that, it means I have a complaint, but it's not about anything in the mod as it is; it's about what you plan to do with it in the near future.
In the mod description, you said you want to have a way of obtaining Dragon souls "without killing dragons."
Stop. Just don't do that. It completely flies in the face of this game's mythos. Any mortal can DEFEAT a Dragon, but only the Dovahkiin can KILL a Dragon, because since Dragons resurrect after being defeated, taking their souls is the only way to keep them in the ground. Ergo, absorbing a Dragon Soul is how you kill Dragons, meaning whenever you absorb a Dragon Soul - with or without combat - that Dragon dies... forever.
The only pacifist alternative to that is to defeat a Dragon WITHOUT absorbing his/hers/its soul, which is actually something I wondered about, so here's my suggestion:
Since the Dragonborn has the power to absorb Dragon Souls, wouldn't a magically adept enough Dragonborn have the restraint to NOT absorb their souls? I think their should be a power you can use (obtained after defeating Mirmulnir would be a good way about it) that prevents you from absorbing Dragon Souls for as long as it's active, either lasting only a few minutes (so you can activate it as soon as a Dragon 'dies' in order to spare them) or being a permanent toggled effect.
As for learning Shouts as a pacifist, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to be able to simply convert perk points into what effectively becomes a dragon soul you can spend to learning or upgrading shouts. And, since the Greybeards (good god, they need a better name) seem to know the entirety of the Dragon language, they really should support your ability to learn words of power without influencing you to go out and kill Dragons, something that they're allegedly against. So you could add repeatable quests that you can do for the monks in order to be rewarded with "knowledge" that will translate as an absorbed soul.
I know this is a pretty breathy rant, but it's the best suggestion I can think of to expand on the concept you're presenting, and the way you described it in the description just sounded silly, so I figured everyone needed some elaboration.

Great concept though not a total pacifist I rather not kill every person and animal that passes my path.

Boethiah's calling yeah what is with that, when did we have to be a War Lord with no compassion and when did I start taking orders from the Divines, I follow my own path in Skyrim.

Dark Brotherhood not an issue, the first 2 times I wiped them out of nonsexist there is one mod for the Thieves Guild also took those bad boys out also. There is a passive dragon mod that kind of limits how many dragons you have to kill, Dragon Priest need not apply. Still love this mod and its author for trying and having a great idea, maybe they will come back. But like all these people do have other things to do.
