If you want to change to a different character without starting a new game, do not remove the old .esp. Just replace the meshes and textures with the new character's, add the new player_.esp, and activate it in the load order after the old player_.esp
Hi daisuke_niwa, If the save file can't remember the characters's name, but being able to skip character creation works, would it be ok to release an update (like, I don't know, 1.25 or 1.5) and then put up another update when the character name change fix is added?
I tried several times playing as Nono and followed the directions. I either CtD when asked 'who are you' or I walk in place at the chopping block when player.setstage mq101 100. It would be nice to use this with LAL and skip the whole Helgen stage.
Well you can use SKSE to skip player creation mode. You don't need to use console commands. Just start the game as usual and when you approach to that guy with the list he will ask you if you wanna skip the creation mode. just hit yes :)
I've read everything and I still don't even remotely understand how to actually set your player character as one of these. Is it a console command or something? I can't figure it out..
also just tried turning off "Live Another Life" mode since I read someone else was having issues with it down below but I still CTD after the "who are you" in the vanilla start.
I have all the checkboxes turned on for this mod as well.
That works when your character's not so easily pushed around by NPCs (such as Ele, Nightley, Sharl & Mahito). Smaller ones get pushed around which end up getting the player stuck walking on one spot, stopping just going into the chopping block position.
Use player.setstage MQ102 30, if you find that you are unable to complete the chopping block scene after which you'd normally be able to proceed with the game. You'd end up missing the tutorial cave mission, but at least you can get on with the game.
Well I've write a little script to avoid character creation step if you install SKSE... Just play normal and that guy at the "end of the road" will ask you to skip the player creation step. You click yes and that all :) No more console commands :)
